Single Coil pickup without the twangy sound.

Currently I've got a Hot Lead for Tele but it's got that twangy sound which I don't like. I like it to have a full sound like a humbucker does...any recommendations for a pickup like that?

emg s/sa single coils? last time i tried on my friend's fernandes strat it sounded pretty.. not so twangy..

hehe why not a twangy sound for a tele? Isnt wat ppl buy it for?

JB works well on mahogany, not sure abt other woods.

^ I agree fully. I respect everyone's decisions, but I feel like it's sacrilegious to put humbuckers/singlesized humbuckers into a fender strat/tele/jaguar,etc. That's why I'm going to mod my HSS strat to SSS when I get the money. The twang is the trademark of the tele IMO. But if you wanna do it, by all means. :D

agreed. as much as i feel fenders should keep their signature twang. tone is subjective! but if you must, i do think the hot rails would do superb.

well for me personally, I find the tele twang very unique, makes its uncomparable to other guitars like les pauls, strats in terms of the tonal characteristics.

But sometimes it gets too overpowering, and rather irritating I find, especially my tele bridge, a SD jerry donahue. I feel like switching it Out to a humbucker or something too.

to stay on topic, I recommend the SD vintage stack . Its a very full sounding pickup with great mid range.

the strat & tele are indeed renowned for that single coil bite, but for some of us, after hearing it in person, we love the guitar but the tone isn't our cup of tea...

i love my tele AND my Hot Rails 8)
