Singing endurance milestone!

Hi guys,

I just wanted to share an achievement of mine. Last saturday I sang in a jamming session for 2 hours. And at the end of the 2 hours, I was still able to sing! Previous times, I have worn out my voice after a very short time only.

I think what made the difference was sticking to good technique instead of screaming. I have a habit of increasing pressure when I can't hear myself over the band, and that causes bad vocal chord approximation, eventually leading to pain and total inability to sing. But I was able to keep that habit in check, keeping the pressure balanced and maintaining my voice throughout.

I am very happy now :) One bad habit down, 10 more to go..

Wow!That's great!I'm so happy for you!Yes,its always important not 2 have to scream or shout instead of singing. Do note that when jammin or even when performing, the band should never be over-powering the vocalist. You as vocalist should not be having 2 compete with the band. if you find that you can't hear yourself, perhaps you could try asking your band to tone down the volume on their instruments/amps. Ive had tat problem with my band before but not anymore. Anyway, really happy for you though! Keep it up!

yah.. still remember those days first time jamming in studios.. if go back still have voice, it's quite a miracle.. hahaha..

Yea Hex,I know what you mean.As a vocalist our voices are very important. We should do all we can to maintain it.No point screaming above the band's music & losing our voices in the process.
