DRUM CHALLENGE

2 Category:

(a) UNder 21 years old (Wah low eh - I'm too old for that.

(b) Open Category (I can - but too lousy to join lah)


Anyone of you Bros participating in this "2 Minutes Solo Competition" ? Wah 2 minutes is not a short time you know? and the Audition is going to take place on

(c) 11.30am to 5.30pm - 14.4 (Saturday) & 15.4 (Sunday) - That only give us 1 month to prepare lah....but remember to bring along S$20.00 as Registration Fees

Anyone?????? - ...Option: - Start to look for the below Sifu to teach us play this one-time (2 Minutes Solo) wonder they will take us just for this Competition

(d) Tony, Tama Goh, Alvin, Jimmy Lee himself, Loius Tan Ah Pek,..or Doe (Loius Tan Nephew Steve Gadd of Singapore)- he solo 15 minutes in Botanical Garden lah the last time.....I wonder? izzit 1st our Rudiments have to be good & fast then can do the 2 minutes Drum Solo?

(e) Buy Drum Solo Transcibe? (do they sell them)..but not Original liao ley?

PS: I know my Sifu will laugh at me (and ask me to back-out as I'm not ready - everytime like that one Huh !)...who will take me and train me for this competition lah?

hey guys. i think wecklx has a important point about this event being costly for the organisers. i think us drummers have a role to play to help bring in education to our little island. lets really support them in this.

There...I knew it !....I told my Sifu to teach me just to do a 2 minutes Solo because I wanna join the competition and he laugh at me nodding his head saying " You're not ready now"...my heart sank....I ask him "How long more"...he say "A few more years"...

I call dol (Steve gadd of S'pore)...he also says - I have to be good in my Rudiments before I can join lah - but 2 minutes Solo is "chicken to him"..and yes he can help to take up and prepare a student just for this Solo Competition, if the fudamentals are there - and I'm out lah !

Wah I so sad already you still can disturb :smt064 me here har Weckl :axe: ...but seriously Bro - - 2 minutes Solo cannot be easy what..correct ??.......2 minutes is a long time man...I don't think it's going to be easy lah I really will run out of ideas of what to Solo, furthermore even if say I could do it - It will never be musical enough....what to do - continue learning lor FOR YEARS ...sobb...sobb

2 mins isn't THAT long lah... you can't be blazing away at 200bpm the whole time mah... variations in dynamics and speed will make it interesting, throw in a 1 min pause in the middle for dramatic effect :lol:

Yeah, I'm not even thinking about it, I know for a fact I'm not practising consistently enough to try. Slack already, nowadays. Haha. Playing guitar more often.

Yeah! I had a glimpse of it (actually learnt it but not mastered yet) when Guy Licata (Jojo's protege) explained how it's done. 3 quick hits on the bass drum. Sounds and looks amazing. Now we get to see it done by the man himself. Will be a great treat!
