well, just checked the myspace, can get group discount with 5 or more ppl and its on sale from 1st April onwards. The 'brochure' shown above have all the information and details

well there's JIMMY LEE for everyone who wanted singapore drummers to be on the manifest of the festival..:D...

how about a big group of softies conquer the first day of the convention?

it'll be damn cool man!

i also checked with sistic and the event is not listed with them...But their myspace has gotten the pros to add them as well, so it has gotta be somewhat legit..so...iwhtever lah..but i sure hope that it'll happen. For all our sakes.

eh weckl-x sorry but i got to disagree, haha. I don't think one man is going to organise such an event. Even if Nigel is the organiser behind this I am very sure he have LOTS of staff/helper.

Just my 2 cents.

Sure, I'm personally hoping it's real too, and that it'll take place without a hitch.

But the little things like the website, (sistic as mentioned by rla), make me doubt the professionalism of whoever's in charge. If he's got lots of staff/helper, then what's up with the website?? Anyway, let's hope they sort it out soon.

Here's another point for discussion: How much do you think they'll price the tickets/passes?

1 day @ $50?
2 day @ $80?

or

1 day @ $100?
2 day @ $175?

Btw, just a comparision tickets to ModernDrummer Festival 2006 ranged from $100-$140 for a single day pass, and $170-$250 for a 2 day pass.
http://www.moderndrummer.com/festival/festival-tickets-information

They had about 16 drummers in the lineup.

Haha true, we just got to wait for them to sort out. About the price, I believe there will be a greater discount for 2 days so I am thinking about 150++ and above for both days.

OMG ok i need to start saving up... i'll camp there and sleep there and do everything there... DEREK F***ING RODDY!!! omg imagine all those cymbals and huge drumkits... maybe they might make it like NAMM and bring all the exhibitions... suntec is gonna filled with drool... haha and the reason i think the website is down and suntec is still not informed is coz its only in June and the tickets only available starting from april... Slayer was only announced like a week before tickets went on sale... hang in there, i dont think anyone would dare hoax on such a great godsent event...

8O 8O 8O 8O
DERRICK RODDY,JOJO MAYER!!
HOW MUCH BETTER CAN IT GET.........
errr....i'm now worried abt the pass pricing.......
hope its affordable

I believe it'll definitely be on the high side, I mean, how many drummers do you think there are in SG? (Maybe by going for this, we can find out.. haha) I can't imagine how much bringing in all the drummers (and their respective bandmates if they're invited) will cost man.

Appearance fee, accommodation, airfare... maybe if they can get gear sponsorship from yamaha + sweelee they can defray some of the cost. But there are no sponsor logos on the poster so far.

Look, when yamaha brought in Steve Smith, the tickets were $50 each.

I also remember going for an Eric Johnson gig (I managed to get a free ticket), the hall at UCC was less than half full. The organizer must have made a huge loss that night.

Tough job, if they price attractively/low, they'll definitely make a loss as I doubt there's enough critical mass when it comes to drummers. If they price to cover their expenses (which I believe isn't a small sum), less people will come.

Unless... they come up with regional packages too, to target people from the SEA region...

In case anyone wonders why I sound so incredulous, is because I don't want to get geared up for this event, then realise it's either not going to happen, or priced beyond my means :)

im totally agree with u weckle-x.
Like last year, Kenny Aronoff came to Msia and they also came to Sg rite?
So people in Msia unlikely to go to Sg to see him again. So if these drummers ONLY play at Sg, there will have a chance that people around SEA will come down to Sg to see them.
But if u do ask me, I will definitely go if I have the time. Because I never had a chance to go to Drums Festival before. I think there's no such thing here in Msia. Hehhee...

hey fellow drummers.........
i read went to the drumfest site(myspace)
and found out the estimated(i think) price for the passes...

I know RD, how to get to go free, or even get paid - volunteer to be coolie/drumtech/usher for them.

Hahahaha ---- Free definetely cannot lah for everyone (they are in the business too) - but it's possible subject to maybe only 3 or 4 person in Soft here who wants to help them out ... So - it pays to be in the Organising Committee here for this Drum Fest at SOFT - Hurry get yourself organise lah here lah....

Then - the rest of us here going (the committee will negotiate with them on bulk purchase of Tickets for our this special interest group - should be able to get better than the normal pricing for sure (how much I donn't know lah) -just based on the volume of Drummers here getting the tickets altogether as a Group - This is - - - The Power Of Soft Drummers here .... Kekekeke :smt040.

Get their contact number now - start collecting names - then negotiate on price of tickets. Who will buy 40 to 60 tickets besides Soft here & Yamaha Music School...correct?
