Should I swap my Epiphone SG for a Swing EZ100?

*warning! guitar noob*

Greetings fellow softies!

I bought this Red Epiphone G-310 off my friend a couple months back cos he needed to get rid of it quick and I was wondering if it is wise of me to sell it off and get a Swing EZ100 instead.

My main reasons for this is because I don't really favor the bright red colour of the body and the neck is glossy and my palms have a strong tendency to sweat alot when i play and i get a really 'sticky' feeling as i move up and down the neck.
Also, i find the SWING Floyd Rose on the EZ100 attractive and i like to play around with the whammy's and stuff :D

I'm currently into songs by Muse and Guns n roses and ac/dc and other rock bands.

Here are the links to each guitar

Any recommendations, suggestions and criticism (if any) are welcomed!

Thanks!

the Swing is a good player; just be mindful of the bridge type

it's not a physical scrutiny, a functional scrutiny more like it. dual action locking units are notorious not to uphold tuning accuracies if they are not from the trusted brand names. the budget models often fulfill the fundamental obligations of raising & lowering notes but they don't keep the instrument in tune- that's the primary frustration. we can't expect too much from these units though, we need to acknowledge the budget implications here- cheaper/ more affordable fixtures are often not as exceptional as their upper end ounterparts.

What if i add extra springs to the bridge? Will it help to stabalize tuning?

Agreed with sub, it might be worth investing in a quality locking trem unit like a Gotoh in order to make the guitar a keeper.

It is based on the RG dude. Why bother calling it a knockoff anyways?
Everything's a knockoff of Fenders and Gibsons. Every amp is a knockoff of a Fender Bassman. etc etc

adding springs isn't the remedy for this situation; extra springs are to counter the increased string tension should you employ a thicker set of strings in your guitar. if you are interested in a reputable dual action whammy bridge unit, it's advisable to save up & get a guitar with a reputable bridge in it.

Ah icic... So i should just stick with my current guitar until i have enough cash to buy a better guitar then?

Unless you're not interested in getting a floating trem unit. In that case, there are several fixed-bridge options out there.

Well i'm interested in getting a floating trem unit. Haha.
But after seeing what the other more experienced members have written, i'm probably gonna save up and look for a more reliable one :D

remember to learn how to change the strings on a full floating bridge properly...dun end up spoiling the bridge after the 1st restringing LOL!!

replacing dead strings- easy. it's the tuning maintenance that's the issue. it's not a major pain, a matter of dealing with what you have invested in.

ok i admit tuning and maintenance of full-floating bridges takes extra time that i'm not willing to invest...i'd rather live w/o raising pitch lol :p

Hmm... If that's the case then maybe I'll stick to a fixed bridge first. That's something I can live with. Haha.

On a sidenote, what would be considered a decent/good setup? Or does it all depend on the player's preferences?
