hi guys,

my main axe which has been with me for the past 17 years is shwoing signs of breaking down. so better start shopping for one before it really becoomes unplayable.

for stock gtr, , i am zooming into the Ibanez Prestige RG1550. anyone played this before?
also, how much would i be 'injecting' into the economy ? ;)

Thanks.

RG1550 is currently discontinued. the only available version now is the RG2550. very few Ibanez RGs have a maple fretboard. of course, there are plenty of other good Ibanez guitars around. however, I personally feel that the edge and lo-pro edge FR bridges are the smoother as compared to others.

why not repair your current axe by the way?

Hi relinquish69, thanks for the update and comments on the bridge system of Ibanez.

My current axe is an entry level Yamaha RGX, I think the wood on the neck is going liao. All my frets needs to be change and I do not know if it can stand up to such repair - btw, there isa small chip-off at the back of the neck due to a knock previously.

I'm looking at the RG1550 because it is the only model other than the JEM77 that offers left handed version as stock. SO I guess if the 1550 has been replaced by the 2550, it should also maintanin the left handed option too?

nope I don't think thats the case. The only one that I've seen that is available left handed is RG370DXL. I have seen a few left handed RG1570's on ebay before but I don't think its worth to ship it in.

look at what other brands might have to offer with regards to left handed guitars.

not quite. the RG1550 is currently not offered in the Asian market. it's available in the USA, the following RG1550M is an example:
