Share: Personal ghostly encounters...

blueprintstudios: i've heard that belief before. being a scout, we have camps and during camps we will have night hikes. my school troupe always go to the old chinese cemetary at bukit brown. my scout leader would always pass on that belief to everyone.

but i believe it always best to pickup your pace and not look back when "someone" is calling your name.

ohh, another belief is that, we should not call each other's name in the cemetary and rather use 'codenames'. my scout leader told me that if we call each other by our names, 'things' could/might/would follow us back when we leave the cemetary.

KNN sia.

Yesterday after going out wif frens. I was walking home from Yew Tee MRT. wa lau wei when I walking home I heard like someone calling my name sia. And the trees like got some noise that I don't usually hear( I go home late every saturday).I was like f***king scared la. I din turn back or answer though.just asking, is yew tee area like, 'dirty'?

is your name Ah Beng?
If yes, it's quite common mah

Hey people. When I asked my friend to link me this thread he was reading, my internet started to hang and my msn began to lag. And, I had to restart my com once and nearly twice :(

Hope that ghost doesnt come and disturb my game later :P

7th month is here!

I'm not superstitious k. :P Just thought bout my fav. thread in this Music Kopitiam! Lookin' forward to hear more stories from anyone to help eat away my long breaks in school

when i was 6 yrs old i tink.. saw a red cloth flying horizontally across my 5-foot-way outside my 7th floor house in bukit batok... as i was too young to realize it was spooky, i shouted to my mother 'ma, its superman!'
a long time later, as i got older, my mum told me this story.. and she said that wat i saw was a ghost.. cuz she saw.. not a red cloth, but a head...

i went to toilet around 3am...

theni looked down in the toilet bowl
and there it was
mr hankey

scariest day of my life!!!!

haha was just kidding...

actually i ALWAYS experience strange knocking and dragging of furniture in the house...
and on odd days,i get this certain weight being pushed down on me when i'm sleeping...and yes,its damn freaky! coz i will be abruptly awoken from it after i have managed to say a few prayers...and it would seem like it was a nightmare...

it usually happens when i'm going to sleep...like when i'm dozing off..

and the worst i had,was that i heard a voice in the pillow...serious no joke...

seems that the strange phenomenon of 'dragging furniture' and 'dropping marbles' are very famous in singapore.. anyone has any explanation for this?

The marbles thing shuld be the water pipes dripping water or wad if i rmb correctly, about the furniture dragging should be ur neighbours dragging their furnitures or if its ur own furniture then it might be ur house guardian??

regarding the moving furnitures, who would be stupid enough to drag furnitures ? say around 2-3 am in the freaking morning

once i was praying in the living room with my dad at around 7.20 pm ( muslim pple should know what time it is ) i heard something scratching my door from outside continuesly..i tried to ignore but couldnt helped it coz it was LOUD.after praying,i opened the door to check it out and found nothing. dad asked my why and i told him about it...strange thing was he told me he heard nothing when we were praying.

alifk69 : somewhere on soft forum / or maybe this thread, I've mentioned the details of this "marble" / "furniture" thingy. yes it's very common.

the marbles "story" goes like this, they say skulls of children are buried inside the HDB/house/bridge, so they'll stay secure and still. they put marbles in between the ceilings/floors for them to play with at night.

pulaubelakangmati : lets just say I saw a dark figure swam past inbetween my legs when I was in the pool once during the 7th month years ago... and it felt like ... hair... and yes like what faberglass says, they "pull". but my balls shrank so much I just pretty much got out of the pool asap and never dared to swim past 12am since.

recklessnick : thats why ppl also believe in reincarnation. Reuse + Recycle is green for our planet. many singaporeans are born each day just so that they'll grow up, work hard, contribute cpf and drive cars pay erp.

pulaubelakangmati : "strange thing was he told me he heard nothing when we were praying. "

another 7th month experience 5 years ago, of course I wasn't praying, but I was doing night military driving at mandai training ground. can't say the road name as it may be restricted, but signallers/commandos/cadets will know. it was the last night of the 7th month, my drivermate usually chatterbox, can't keep his mouth shut was quiet the entire night after his drive. he swerved suddenly during the drive, kena tekan by the instructor. then after finishing he said he swerved cos he saw pontianak (white clothes/hair etc) appeared on the road suddenly, and during "my turn" to drive , I saw it as well up at the tree from far. but I had to focus on driving right? suddenly I hear all these weird "finger nail scratches" on both sides of the car window and some kind of intensive tapping as if trying to open the window, I asked my instructor "sir you making all that noise is it" he said "har? no? why? you hear something?" then I just kept quiet. hahah. freaky stuff. I didn't dare to even turn to look beside me

by the way I found the old ghost stories thread

http://soft.com.sg/forum/music-kopi-tiam/42368-ghost-stories-2.html

sorry I recalled wrong I didn't explain about the marbles / kid skulls / playing. but anyway I already typed out as above..

as for furnitures.. I have no idea... I used to live in a condo with my parents , the furnitures upstairs shift all the time and they're always dropping marbles. and it specially only happens when it hits 0000 hours onwards.

now we moved to a semi D landed property , and no one sleeps upstairs... but i still hear marbles/furnitures...

actually I've been to a friend's place in jurong west area , he lives at the top floor hdb , upstairs is roof top but he also hears marbles dropping. so it's very singaporean thing I guess..

enjoy !

luckily you did not crash into any trees bro.

yea the thing is everyone living in hdb houses have the marbles/furnitures story..but does it happen to those living in new hdb flats or just the old ones or both ?

anyway having those noises at midnight beats having sudden loud banging on your door at wee hours..if that were to happen to me,i sure die of heart attack

just to chip in more tips before I forget (not that I like to remember all these things in my head anyway) .
[chinese funerals]
1) funerals : kids must never go close to the coffin/dead body. can see for a while for one last time but must not stay close. chinese belief in yin/yang is that kids have alot of "Yang", and when they're close to a dead body (alot of "Yin") , the dead body "sucks" the yang out of the kid. and usually that's a bad thing because only when you have alot of "yin" in you'll start to encounter all these unlucky ghost thingies.. how I know? you may ask, because that kid, I'm a living example haha.

2) standard procedure. don't let the cat jump on the coffin. of all times , always during funerals there are alot of freaking cats... i haven't seen this, but they say the dead body will become undead or something.
[etc etc]
3) I believe i've covered the "turning your head back to respond "whatever"'s behind you." somewhere on this thread. the other one is, don't bend down and look behind inbetween your legs.

4) this one is a classic smoker's excuse in NS. the "sparks" of your cig scares away spirits/ghosts.. during my driver training patrol duty at mandai forest , most of my friends were patrolling with a cig in their mouth and rifle in their hand. it's of course against the rules and all, but shit man it IS the last day of the 7th month and it's that same day saw the pontianak etc. oh and I just recalled, if shyamraj from witheredtree/also in SOFT is reading this, I believe you're in the same batch as I am. i think.

5) i may have mentioned this before, but I'll say it again, drivers, don't speed at Sixth Avenue at midnight hours. the one beside the huge drain/canal.. many (mostly taxis) report losing control of their steering wheel all of a sudden and auto-steer you into the gutter.. there's got to be a story behind this but I don't know (don't get along) enough laojiao cab drivers to hear about this.

>"but does it happen to those living in new hdb flats or just the old ones or both ?"
sengkang / punggol owners pls report. thank you.

actually other versions apart from marbles and furniture moving sounds, the ones I've heard is "sweeping", and "heavy thumping footsteps" (can be the neighbour but again only happens at midnight onwards) and.. there was this once , it was a sound of as if someone took a huge vase and slam on the floor like "PRIANKGGCRACKCRACK....". ah that one really ballshrink . same old "hauntedish" condo I lived in.
