Self-Learning Or Pay To Learn?

Hi all,

I'm a rookie in guitar playing. Had taken 3 months of basic lessons from music school but didn't learn much.

I would like to seek opinions/advices:

1) Is it easy to learn guitar by oneself? (i.e. online, books, videos)
2) Did you learn it by yourself?/Where or how did you learn it? *you may answer it too if you learned from music school*
3) Is it worth to pay to learn? (i.e. to learn from music schools)
4) Any recommended websites/ ways/ organizations which we could to learn? (free)
5) As a beginner, is it better to buy classical guitar or acoustic guitar?
6) Which store offers a better price for a decent & basic guitar for beginner?

Thank you!

1) with the existence of internet, its a million times easier. depends on you too. if you're the type who needs people to shift your fingers here and there when you make mistakes instead of you look, you know, the a teacher would be good.

2) self taught. internet. friends. many ways.

3) depends how serious you are. knowledge is always a good investment. but if all you plan to play is power chords, well, not

4) i learnt from www.justinguitar.com there are many websites you can learn from, really. youtube even.

5) THAT, is a personal choice. do you the whole difference of the two guitars in the first place?

6) hard to tell. decent and basic is quite vague. try looking for the recommendations threads around the rookie corner or gear guitar. there are zillions of them.

goodluck!

3) lol, I intend to learn for composition & play in singing competition if needed. Actually I'm struggling between keyboard & guitar, wondering which is worth the investment of time & money. I prefer something easy to learn. :D

5) I only know the textures of both are different. Classical nylon won't hurt the fingers as much, right?

6) I prefer something not too bulky, easy to carry around. Reasonable durability. Any recommended shops in North area?

Thank you!

easy to learn? wow thats a first. i'd suggest consider other reasons. please. find what you WANT.

actually there's more to that than that. different sounds, feel, playability, style of play, style of music. read them up. alot of articles online.

there's always svguitars. www.svguitars.com or isit with ".sg" owner's Mike in the forum

Thank you!

IMO paying a teacher to teach you not only hastens up the learning process, it also makes you more motivated to learn more considering that lessons don't come cheap.
