Second Guitar

Admit it or not. many of us do not know much about tone when we're buying our first guitars. most probably we picked it because of price/shape/colour

but after playing for awhile. Many of us find deficiencies in our guitars and decide to upgrade (unless youre one of those rich kids which starts learning with a Gibson)
With what tone we have in mind now, we buy our 2nd guitar!

maybe you guys can tell us why you made the decision

my second guitar is a epi iommi sg! i got it mainy cos it had high output gibson pickups which i loved at first hear and i totally dug the cross inlay's

tonally it couldnt compare to a lespaul in terms of sustain but i decided that since i'd be gigging quite often. the sg would suit me better as its way lighter ( my two of my arms put side by side is equivalent to my lead guitarist's arm)

My second guit is a MIM fender strat.

Well, influenced from my bro. I like strats. haha.

Sunbursts are hottttttt. hotttttt. hotttttt.

then modified it with dimarzio pickups and etc etc like what my bro did. haha. but my bro converted back to his old pups. lol

Yeah i remember the time when i invested in my first "expensive" guitar that i could afford....and that was after 8 cheap guitars including some 2nd hand that i experimented with(like trying out different brands of pickups and electronics)....LMAO.......then after that the guitars i bought got much more costlier and costlier....;)

i bought my 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th... 26th & 27th guitar because it inspires me to play differently when i pick it up.

oh my gosh. i wonder how many guitars i will own 10 years down the road
note that i havenft even entered single coil territory before

KEVIN. WHAT. HOW COULD YOU. Single coils are the holy grail. hahaha.

for some. for me at least.

I hope i can get a well playing job to support my hobbies.... then ill have a sizable amount of guits in the future. haha.

i came to realise metal is not all the way. so i picked up a 2nd guitar, a strat for blues & other genres.

Almost the same as you bro.. I wanted something with humbuckers for a fatter, creamier tone..
And the SG is known for the SG crunch! Was deciding between a MIM Fender Satin Strat and a Epi Faded G-400..
Ended up buying the epi for the tone, feel and look and also cause I already had a single-coiled equipped guitar!

The IC-400's my 2nd guitar, and it will be my main guitar in the forseeable future. Though i'm planning on getting something like a dean VMNT as a workhorse guitar cus the IC-400s now outta production and i wanna keep it as pristine as i can.

actually to tell u the truth, i only learn 3 chords that time when i bought my first guitar so i was at sv buying a stratocaster i think u guys heard of it called timbre but i wasnt pratically liking the whole thing so i tried diff guitars in his shop though knowing 3 chords taht time but is all up to ur ears to liek it what i like about the timbre was neck not so thick quite thin actaulyy alder wood not so heavy sound, tone thats all and i didnt regret lols
but now due to wanting more tone moved on with other guitars

Hmm.

I started my electric journey with a humbucker guitar, a B.C. Rich Mockingbird, but it just didn't speak to me. I ended up trading it away in exchange and top-up for a Epi G-400 before getting myself a telecaster. Literally worlds apart in terms of sound, feel, character etc. but I suppose that's why my 3rd guitar is a Strat mongrel with H-S pickup config... best of both worlds.

celahircelebrindal: Where u got ur YJM strat from? CIJ or MIA?

Its the MIA one bro....'07 model as the neck mounting is machine screw mounting type. The pickup selector is 3 way not 5 way switch like most MIA Fender......was set-up recently courtesy of Kaycee.Excellent job bro!!
