"Scratchy" noisy knobs and faders-how to remedy?

Hi everyone,

what's the proper way to remedy noisy knobs and faders on a guitar effect. I believe WD40 and such are not good as they can cause a build-up of gunk and cause bigger problems in the short future.

I was told this problem requires a special lubricant for audio equipment instead. Price is not an issue though so can any one recommend any remedies to this problem besides sending it for repair?

Thanks

What I heard is that you can use the contact cleaners.
Or those spraycan cassette tape head cleaners or something like that...

Hi Edwin thanks for your advise. I was told the average contact cleaners are not good for audio equipment though, not sure and hope to get more advise here.
Cassette tape head cleaners are they still available?

Contact cleaners works great, and is specially designed for this application. Can get the Phillips brand quite readily, just ask most electronics shops.

Can anyone recommend where to buy contact cleaner suitable for electronic components such as potentiometers & switches?
Where can I get the Philips & 3M brand? any luck here...?

i recently discovered this Jackie Spray 60 from a computer acc shop in raffles and it worked. No more noisy Output pot....cool!

;)
