Schecter Appreciation Thread.

Dam... I'm lyk currently saving up for either a Schecter S-1 or C-1 Lady Luck.. Bt I like can't freakin' decide at all... Love my C-1 so much; bt I wanna play mre rock/heavy rock... punk... post-hardcore type of music and my C-1 seems mre fr hard/heavy rock... metal... Any thoughts on the S-1 and C-1 Lady Luck? Shawn Milke of Alesana uses a C-1 Lady Luck though... And does anyone hav or tried a S-1 before?? I'm kinda so drawn 2 to it so much :D Reminds me of an SG bt it's 10 times kooler XD... LolX

THOA, thanks for the video link. Something different, but kinda remind me of ZW's LP.

Ikan:Country?No....Eh....Ever heard of this japanese singer and guitarist called YUI?I'm playing her songs now,and her guitar tone is....How i do i explain it.It's like overdrive with more distortion, but not so much so that it produces too trebly sounds.Like the classic rock sounds, you know?I find it hard to explain unless you listen to some songs.I'm not going to sell or trade my C-1 FR,i've grown rather attached to it.Only thing that pisses me off is the restringing and tuning part, the first time i did it my ass was numb by the time i finished. The tone was the primary reason why i liked Schecter in the first place,so yeah, but too bad the tone of the C-1 is a bit too distorted for the songs i'm playing now, hence the decision to save up for a Telecaster.(yeah i'm really mad over this artist.:D).I do play some Avenged and other metal stuff every now and then, and that's when i like my C-1 tone all over again.

Girlpants:Schecter Telecaster?I saw it when i was jamming at the Guitar77 studio....No i'm saving up for a Fender Telecaster....you knew that all along didn't you you cheeky person. :p

You mean this YUI rite? Hmm... Why should you go for Fender Tele? Of all the brands..... I'm sure you know we have our very own Tele :

Ar0Rose, wait for Girlpants' view on your dilemma. I'm sure she can guide you accordingly.

Yes,she's the YUI.I know Schecter has their own Tele, but i haven't tried one,and i'm not sure about the tone.Everyone knows how the tone of a Fender Tele sounds, bright and twangy,so i will have to try a Schecter Tele to decide to go for which one...And our one and only Schecter dealer in Singapore Guitar77 doesn't have a Schecter Tele....

Hey Ar0Rose,
I can't give you much opinion about the S-1 cos I have NO IDEA how it sounds like or works. All I know is how it looks like. LOL.
But there's always YouTube if you wanna check the sound out. :)

And reading reviews online, I noticed that majority of the buyers said that the guitar is not very versatile and the stock Duncan pickups can go from Amazing to Horrible in just a year.

Here's a few quotes copied from the review site.

"I play anything from pop-punk all the way up to death metal and I have to say that this guitar unfortunately does not cover them all. I run it through a Line 6 Spider II 30 Modeling amp with a little reverb and it sound spectecular at first. The Duncan's sound very rich and full at first but they start to wear out and get deep. They give out good distortion but not enough for soloing"

"I decided to change the Duncans to the almighty EMG 81/85 combination. Now it sounds like a Demon thanks to the wood quality of the S1. In conclusion about the sound. The S1 sounds beautiful at first but after at least a year of playing with it. You would want to pull out the Duncan pickups and put in somthing else."

On the other hand, a friend of mine gave a 2 thumbs up for "The Lady Luck"
He's been using it for about 6 months already.
The guitar has this push/pull coil tap which in my opinion, the player needs some getting used to cos I was clueless and didn't find it useful when I first got to know about it.
When you figure out what it's for, it works great!

My friend plays cover bands ranging from Alesana, Killswitch Engage to Bullet for my Valentine and he said it works great, though it has the Schecter stock Alnico pickups. :)
He uses a Peavey classic amp, with some effect pedals which I can't quite get what he's saying. hahahahaha
Also, he likes it cos the neck is freaking smooth!

So, I shall pop by his place one day and try out the Lady Luck, and probably give you my thought about it. :D
Cos it sounded awesome from the way he described it.

And yes, Shawn Milke uses Lady Luck for recording of Alesana's 2nd album. So you can pretty much hear how it sounded like, especially on the track "Obsession is Such an Ugly Word" intro.

So there you have it. :D

Girlpants, as expected, a very good post.

The above Tele is made specifically for Japan market and I'm sure G77 doesn't have any arrangement with Schecter Japan. Best if you go to Japan and try it yourself. Quite expensive though.

You might also want to consider the Diamond Series' PT and PT Fastback. The stocks won't be as twangy as the S-PT or Telecaster but you can always rewire them (coil split/tap).

Dude.....Lol.You dun seriously think i would go all the way to Japan to try a guitar, would you?Even though it's a Schecter?I would love to go to Japan, but maybe not for the sole reason to try a guitar.

The diamond Series PTs are great, think i saw some reviews on them before. But instead of modifying the PT to a guitar with coil split,i might as well save all the trouble and directly get a Fender Telecaster, dun you agree?
:D

Then create other reasons (meeting Yui personally & ask her for a chat over sake and sushi perhaps?) and just go.

Hello... I'm here to register for the club... I've been a lover of Schecter Guitars ever since i saw the gorgoeus glossy black c-1's body here and there before.

Seeing Jerry Horton and Wes borland (not to mention Syn) use it made me decide that's the one.

Just bought a C-1 from BGW Guitars and i'm waiting very impatiently for it to come to papa... Was really tempted to go for the Hollywood Classic(how awesome is that is that guitar) but i think the C-1 has the sound i seek...
