scalloping the fretboard

i gives you this bite feel when u play.. like a more stronger gripping feeling that you can just squeeze the notes out.. i dunno how to explain further lol..

definitely needs you to be more precise in fingering...
but once you catch that note under your finger... you can really DIG IN and make that note wail..

yo liff you using .9s or 10s?

switch between the two man... i was on .10 blue steels before i go on .9 labella. btw la bella strings are the friggin bomb man.

well.. it seems easy from the instructions right? imagine if u did the scallop on your beloved Fender/Gibson/PRS... and being a first-timer, you accidentally SLIP.

not that i'm slighting your ability to file... but the risk is there. i screw up often during soldering and wiring guitar electronics.. the only good thing is that electronics are often much more easily salvagable.

if you also notice, the writer of the tutorial didn't actually scallop his neck that well also... (last 3rd pic)... you might find yourself in that situation.

like how i put it in my last line - if you have a guitar neck to waste - you might want to start off with a cheap guitar that u wont feel the pain if you should screw up or if u should end up hating scalloped necks.

.10s la. .10s on scallops are the SHIT! Literally. The punch, the richness, the control = heaven!

But... damn pain only..

warning though : when u switch to scalloped necks.. it can be abit akward for you to play normal guitars when u get used to scalloped neck. =)

the thing is that i got the yamaha yg621 from luther classified. Its a 24frets, locking guitar with wizard 2 neck profile. And it was originally with the last 5 frets scalloped on the treble side.(means done at factory and not by previous owners)

Den this guy offered my a RG570CT for my yamaha yg621(1 on 1 trade) and i took. He already scalloped it. Very good job in fact. i think it works well for the upper frets cuz the fret spacing are really small. he mentioned about using a file and slowly whack lor. haha
