Hey guys. Im using a GT-2 as my main drive and SD-1 as a secondary one. I notice that when i use the GT-2 by itself, i doesnt cut through the band that well. It seems that whenever I need to make my sound more noticeble, i have to crank up the level on the GT-2 which in return causes major feedback issues. Can a noise gate solve this or should i ditch the GT-2 for a better drive box.

Or is there settings to share so that the sound can cut through the band much better? The active highs on the GT-2 sometimes bothers me as well. I usually use the BRIT setting on classic and HI-GAIN.

ur lows and highs, try not to go beyond 11am, that way it wont sound too scooped.

if that stil doesnt help, then maybe a 7band eq wil help to boost ur mids more.

maybe getting an eq pedal might work...so i shud leave the eq pedal on all the time? I really like the sound im getting from the GT-2 when my lows are at about 3 oclock and high at about 12, so an addition of the eq pedal to what "pattern" shud i put to make my sound cut through?

I think GT2, strangely, is better off with rhythm than lead. imo GT2 sounds too compressed when you turn up the gain.

eq shd be more like a mid boost , i remember seeing a green colored danelectro eq on a thread somewhere here, that settings sounds quite ok for a solo boost imo.

On the other hand, when I used the older GT2, they seemed to work okay live... didn't have much issues with cutting thru?

i play lead guitar in my band...i really have to find a pedal that can stand out during my lead parts. MI AUDIO Crunchbox perhaps?

whats the amp settings you're using? the marshall setting somehow manages to cut through the band mix rather well. mayb u have too much gain going for you yeah.

bro tvontheradio are you the only guitarist in the band?
if you are ..then something is wrong ....
if its too much feedback ..then, its either youre too near to the amp,or too much gain ,choose a sweet spot in the jam.

else just get a boost pedal like the duncan pickup booster or the mxr micro amp ..

Im not the only guitarist...it seems that my rythm guitarist always overpowers my sound...Anw..does a noise gate help solve the feedback problems when i crank up the level too high?

mayb u should try muting your strings or turning down your volume when not playing? solves feedback problems and its FOC.

BUT. have you considered your mids could be too high?
and settings wise, try turning down your highs and using the CENTER setting.
give you a touch more mids to cut through.

anyways, dont stand so near to the amp, u can't really hear yourself that way. stand off a bit and listen to your playing and see whether it cuts through or not. it might seem you dont cut through but mayb you actually are?

just my tax free 2 cents worth.

While its important to work on YOUR sound and settings...

Its equally impt to look at your 2nd guitarist.

If he played with mids @ 11 all the time then, you'll just bite the dust right? :)

Work with him and figure things out...

i see there ia another guitarist involved.Bro you need to work out the level of vol together..In other words you guys need to compensate one another..
Blasting the the vol it wont help and thus irritating feedback ..

Boost when you need to..and start the jam with least vol and increase the vol id need be..work as a team thats the most important..
sound balancing is very important..

I suspect it's the Gain involved. Try this: Set your uneffected clean volume to unity with your pedal. Play with your band with GT2 on, then switch to clean.
