hey guys..where can i get a guitar sander? *if theres such a thing :):)*

err...i just need something very cheap like lets say 20 bucks :D to sand a strat body clean...

how much and where is it sold?

What 'sand' are you looking for??
Sand paper cost less than 3 bucks.. But you wanna sand it 'clean' you clean means ripping of the paint coat is it? If that's so.. maybe tinner is better..
Any of the above can be found easily at HomeFix.. Or any industrial estate.. Yeppz
Hope that helps ^,^"

using sandpaper and manually doing the sanding is very tiring and slow process. if u can, get a palm sander from any hard ware shop, load it up with sand paper and you are ready to start sanding.

thats what i need!! how much is a good one?

you are looking for a good palm sander but you want it for less than $20. if you were working at a workshop somewhere and someone asked you to sand a guitar body down to bare wood, would you want to do it for a mere $20? I dont know man, I guess you get what you pay for.

the cheapest alternative is to buy the paint removing solution. the one that stings the skin like crazy. definitely helps you strip paint quickly and efficiently. after that just use sand paper to even out the surface.

total cost = what you are looking for.

i used a bosch orbital sander - best of the diff types i had previously

u can try bringin ur guitar to dan enterprise at 04-35 peninsula shpng ctr ask if he cud strip the finish fior $20 or so (+/_) tell him fgl sent u

hmm,but yet gain, a palm sander would be a good investment if i'm gonna do more projects..so how much is a good palm sander?

alamak fgl like secret agent ..haha ...
abt the 20bucks sander, you can try cash converter ...
or if you really desperate ...just get those drill attachment sanding stuff ..ard 3.50 i think ..but ...be warn its gonna get messy ..and dirty ..
the dust gonna fly all over the place :) ..

another ..try pain stripper/remover method ...ard 5.50 and scraper/sandpaper
but becarefull dun let the paint remover fly to ur eye ...beware..

dun want other people to do it for me la..whole point of sanding it myself is to admire the naturally shiny wood...beautiful stuff!

Seriously bro...if you don't have an extreme amount of patience and time....just pay some professional to do it....I've learned my lesson when I tried to remove the paint on my strat...I only managed to sand off some part of it and end up I got an ugly guitar that I have to sell it off cheaply....Just to warn you....sanding off the edges are very2 tricky....

i've already sanded a strat body before..plywood tho..was very easy..

but this time, i think the previous owner just painted without apply any primer or whatever you call it...i think he just sprayed paint over? its like the paint went into the wood...so on some parts it stays grey..very wierd...very hard this time...

i think i'll start first with the acid...it doesn't affect the wood if it gets onto it,right?

more so on ash or quilted or flame maple tops.

Alder's grains are more subtle

Do wear proper safety protection if u gonna use the paint remover.I was burn while putting the chemical on the body as the it splash to my arm.The pain was unbearable. Goggles, dust coat n gloves must be on b4 the process.
