I just got a message from a fellow musician friend that Samad, guitarist of 1 of Malaysia's premier rock bands - Lefthanded, has passed away earlier today. I don't know how true this is or what is the cause of death if this is true...

But if this really happened, it's another great loss to rock fans in the malay music industry...
Some of the highlights of his career was being able to record a song together with Paul Gilbert in his first solo album although they don't do it at the same studio (Paul did his part back in the US)

Samad will always be remembered...

Cant believe it. RIP Samad. A good shredder he was. I saw him once performed solo on RTM channel and I thought he was superb....

ah, this is sad. Malaysia has lost a great musician. He is one of the influential musicians in Malaysia. Inspired quite a number of musicians in our country.

Rest In Peace

i bought Samad's album in its cassette tape form many years ago because:

*i know he's a good player, often over-shadowed by Man Kidal
*he played real well with Paul Gilbert in his solo album, he's a world calss player

there's this Lefthanded reunion show on tv some time ago & Man Kidal was doing his usual noodlings with his Fender but when the time came for Samad to have his fill, he blew Man Kidal away with his PRS... with no disrespect to the great Man Kidal, of course.

RIP to a great player.
