oh jazz eh? haha my inventory's currently a kcustom dark ride and a bosphorus new orleans crash. and im pretty much a jazz geek too. i prefer the zildjian range. give's you the nice warm tone. of course for the k's and k custom's.
PLEASE NOTE: the item in question is the SABIAN HHX LEGACY crash.
From what i hear, its like the Sabian Signature Jojo Mayer Fierce Crash,
But with a bit more attack and a bit rawer.
personally, i think its a damn good cymbal.
It can be used in any kind of genre.
for example if you use it in rock. It add's alot of flavour to your music, like most of the other HHX cymbals.
But if you're playing jazz, its a dark cymbal. so... i think you can do the math.
so no matter what genre you play, its a good cymbal to use.
price wise still okay. would have been a good buy at the sweelee sale.
what nonsense, its a good dark crash, with a raw sound that is good for putting flavour into your grooves.
if not so, explain to me what is your ideal jazz cymbal.
Characteristical speaking.
to me, the whole thing about jazz. is not that you want something so dark that its gona turn your audience mad with all the low frequency.
The thing i'll be looking for is musicallity.
to put some colour into your grooves. darkness does come with musicality.
but you just look at how drummers use a china, same theory, to add colour in the music.
You mean you only believe what you hear?
maybe your speakers not good? ha... now you see, have you played it real life?
have you taken a stick and bash it on a set?
HAHA.. i bet you haven't
So, this is the main question.
Even if you just try it with your finger ah...
you try comparing the other HHX cymbals and the Legacy, it is reasonably darker.
now, if you play against the HHXplosion crash, ha, that is different.
If you play it against the HHX dark crash, the legacy is still much darker.
So, good or bad for jazz..
thats up to you mate.
you try it, you like it, you buy it.
if not, don't.
yea i guess so. like what deonportnoy said in the other thread. every cymbal sounds different, even of the same type. so yea if i like it i'll buy it. and not any other.
yeah. but the thing is, always try it.
cos it might be too raw for some people.
and some people with different taste and diff colours in their music will use diff stuff..
the thing to do is to go up to a sweelee sales personale, and look like your rich. and they'll probably let you try any cymbal they have there.
