heys guys i was wondering wat kinda ranges swee lee carry in sabian cymbals?
the last time i went there, i cld only see hhx, hand hammered and XS series. do they have vault series cos i love the sounds those cymbals produce and iam thinking of getting a 21inch ride from sabian. wld appreciate the help guys

You could've have simply asked them straight when you were there.

Which branch did you visit?

I know, for sure, Swee Lee Bras Besar has Vault cymbals in stock. Which ride are you looking at?

u probably only saw the boxed sets near the entrance of the shop...

u should've walked in all the way and turn right there's the cymbal trees are at...

if ur at sims drive u won't miss the cymbal tree it's right smack in front of the counter..

:D swee lee brings in almost all of the ranges but subject to availablity of stock i guess.... anyone here have tried sabian new line?? APX or something?

Apx

yea, i saw an APX crash over at sweelee the other day, havent tried them properly yet but supposedly its really loud n cutting, since thats what they had in mind while makin them

iam actually looking for a 21 inch defination ride vault series, apparently i did went inside and look throughly to all the tree cymbals, so far i ve seen only vault crashes no ride yet

the apx series is a new line by sabian... but i'm not really hyped about it leh... maybe because its made of b8 bronze...

Paiste Alpha is made of B8... sweet overtones...

Meinl Mb8... cutting with nice glassy overtones...

Verdict: Sabian and Zildjian should not waste time on B8 cymbals. Should just concentrate on what they do best on B20 cymbals. It will cost too much for them to compete with Paiste and Meinl on B8 European made cymbals.

but according to sabian, APX is gona be like a more cutting AAX.
for me, i don't buy the B8 story, all though the alloy has worked wonders for paiste 2002, and the meinl amun series. i just some how look at the cymbal and hear it on their site, it just doesn't do it for me.

i know that the mb10 series is cutting, rmb that time you brought your mb 10 set to a meet up before.
The mb10 ride's bell was KILLER!!!

Haha... wait till to hear the bell of Mb8 20" Medium Ride... you will fall off from your throne... will bring along in the next meet up if the date is available...

i think b8 alloy has its place in cymbalogy.. even at the high-end

no matter the alloy used, whats just as important is also the engineering process

in simple words, b8 alloy is more cutting and bright than b20 alloy. a good engineer that can harness it into good projection + minimize the harsher overtones = job well done

a well-engineered wooden structure will be more stable and lasting than a poorly-engineered concrete one

another example, distillation process of beer is different from say, whisky. much shorter timeframe too. but u find many fans of both good beer and good whisky out there.. heh

Then you have to to hear B10 of Meinl Mb10 and B12 of Meinl Soundcaster custom. Reuben and Jasper can testify to that....

the 10s and soundcasters are pretty awesome. Both are pretty cutting but its versitility in musical terms are pretty wide. Able to call up a wide range on tonal range. However i still wont say that the apx is lousier in any sense cause i really havent heard them yet.

But i would vouch that the 10s and soundcaster series are awesome cymbals

Yup, DH speaks nothing but the truth! I was particularly blown away by the Meinl Soundcaster Crash. Pure brilliance.

Me too I vouch I vouch!

No cymbals are lousier than another. Its a personal choice.

Hell yeah. To each his own. One man's meat is another man's poison. Heh.

oops didnt mean lousier that way.. sorry bout that...hehe

anyway.. many thanks to drum hobbyst for always letting us try his cymbals and stuff!!!
