Hi what do u guys think about the S470 for metal. I liked the guitar, and i have tried it. the neck was really smooth n fast. but i do not use the whammy bar often. I kind of feel that the guitar is expensive because of the ZR. What do you guys think? maybe i can get something better wif the same price of the S470?

no point paying for features u wont utilise..

moreover u'll feel the pinch..i mean..the price will do ur wallet plenty of damage.

well..do u intend of pickin up whammy tricks and using them?

maybe perhaps later i will make use of it.. but any guitars in mind 1st with better specs that is suitable for me.. and maybe i will change the bridge? but i really like the ibanez neck. i'm confused and not sure what to do.

have u tried the SA series??maebe the SA 120?

i like them alot man..i like the trem..its kinda stable..cos i dun use it much..

wanted to buy it..

but in the end..i didnt buy it at all..

why???

i dunno..

if u aint goin to use the floating trem might as well a fixed bridge ibanez.the rg 321mh is realli good for metal i guess.the pickups well there isnt anythin fantatis abt them but they will du till u can get a pickup change. and from wad i see on ibanez website the rg 321 and s470 have the same neck dimension.

the S470 has added versatility in the middle single coil. despite the RG321 & S470 both sporting Wizard II necks, many would be attracted to the sleek S-type body.

hmm okay.. but i'm paying almost twice the amount for the S470 compared to RG321. Worth it? and the INF1 and INF2 S470 used to the INF3 and INF4 RG321 used. are they of much difference or what.?

you're comparing pickups when the main difference lies in the bridge and different mass of the bodies.

Missing the point.

Get a guitar you like. End of story. You're happy.

Change pickups.

Get all the metal pedals, metal amps you want then.

You've already tried the S470, just get it. Expensive because of the bridge, like duh, its a good bridge and does its job exceedingly well.

ahaha. i dun get why pple would ask which guitar better for metal and for this and that. get a guitar which sounds good to you under your desired gain circumstance. also get a guitar which u are comfortable with eg neck, body contour, access to the knobs and switches, bridge style whether fixed, vintage or floyd. yeps and ure ready. whether u can play metal or blues or funk or whatever style is really up to the player then..

sometimes there's this apprehension as to whether a certain guitar would be suitable for a certain genre, especially when the lay person's method of determination is through looks. this is so for 'polite' looking guitars; would it be suitable for metal/ high gain music?

bottom line is always suitability, looks remain secondary. this is the reason why i was willing to 'çonvert' my telecaster for all things METAL...

you want a metal guitar...?

get an explorer ltd from davis ($380)

change both the pickups to emg 81 bridge and emg 85 neck ($270)

install the pickups from G77 (quote price, neg)

all that sum up to $650 - $700

you'll get a great lookin guitar and great sounding guitar...! :D

much cheaper than ibanez s470...so yeah...!

hey guys. thinking of getting a guitar.. price 600 - 900. i see tat the ibanez S470DXQM runs on 3 pickups.. anyway tat i can change it to 2 humbucker? but not the 1 in the middle? planning to get tat and after change it to EMGs. it would look funny with something in the middle for what i see.

Or getting a higher end Ltd or lower end ESP would beat tat ibanez setup? do davis sell the Ltd 400 series? anybody know? or they are just out of stock if they take them in. and any1 checked davis lately? what are the lower end prices of the esp.?

I sense an echo in the force.

In case anyone is too lazy to find this dude's last thread on this similar topic, here it is.

hey guys jsu wanted to noe are teh zr trems on te s series the same thorugout the korean and jap models as in quality? jus wonderin whether the korean guitars have a cheaper version of the zr like in the rg's wher jap guitars hav edge pros and koreans hav edge pro 2. or are te zr trems use in both prestige and norm s series guitars the same?

Nope, not aware that there are different grades of the ZR trem, not been reported officially and on jemsite, no one has commented on it.. yet.

I doubt there is a difference.
