S.O.F.T web pages take very long to load up recently

S.O.F.T is one of the best (if not the BEST) web portal for Music lovers and Musicians in Singapore. They have done a fine job of setting up this portal for all of us. However i've noticed that of late, the webpages seem to take longer than usual to load up. The top and side frames load fast .. it's the thread (middle) portion that is taking a lot more time to appear. I've tried other local and international websites and there's no such issue I encounter.

Is it just me or are fellow Softies experiencing the same problem?
Did the webmaster switch hosting vendor or is there enough bandwidth catered for this portal? I'm not a web techkie ... so anyone has any answers?

What browser are you using?
Which ISP are you using to surf SOFT?
What time of the day do you experience this problem?

Also, 'very long' is about how many seconds?

i think it has something to do with the adverts? sometimes when pages take a while to load, i see the status bar "waiting for <advert-type-of-url> to load" or something similar.

edit: it is "waiting for ads.admaxasia.com"
edit 2: and sometimes its "waiting for adpage2.googlesyndication.com"

Web browsers usually wait for all the data to load before rendering tables. You could switch to CSS but I'm not sure if that would make sense

Yes me too.
awfully slow and not during certain hrs but all day long

I use starhub at home and singtel on the go with my iphone.

Tried different forums and sites but no lag problem at all

It could take up to 30 seconds for a page to completely load up compared to previously with an appox time of 5 secs or so on my iphone on the 3G network.

Home wise is slightly faster. some pages take about 5-10 secs to load up depending on page details.

I'm using a Mac (2.4 ghz) running on Safari (suppose to be one of the faster browser). I'm using Singnet ( 10 mbhps plan) and I experience the speed lag at different times of the day. Also browsed at the office and also at friend's house ( ok .. I'm a hardcore S.O.F.T fan), same slow speed at any time of the day. I counted about 12-18 secs before the centre page finish loading.

Funniest thing is ... before CNY ( or around that time ) was ok ... I remember ... it was when S.O.F.T was restored after one of the 'upgrading' sessions and it had been slow since. Maybe you should check with your web-hosting company and get them to fix it.

I suspect it is the adverts that's causing the load delay. I remembered not too long ago, there was this red advertlet box on the right hand corner of the website. It didn't really cause the forums to load slower but when u open multiple tabs of soft (2 and more) it lagged my computer, which is rather capable of loading 3 to 4 480i youtube videos w/o lagging. Thank goodness it's removed now
