HI,

Didn't really look through the thread. If i was asking the same question maybe someone can give me a link to a thread that answer this similar question?

Since i've sold off my acoustic drum a year ago i still can't decide on an elect drum.

I've come to this two set HD-1 or Alesis DM6

Which set should i pick? the Good and bad of both? Not really having much budget though.

Thanks.

I am rather impressed by the Yamaha dtx500k, i would say for apprx $1k, it has great functions in the module and decent pads to get started with,

Hd-1 is rather marked up here in Singapore and relatively small sized, you might develop a bad posture in drumming playing it,

Hope it helps :)

Stay away from Roland's electronic kits unless you have a budget of above 5k, anything below that is not worthed it IMO. Even their TD4KX, which is around 3k, does not have a hi hat that is mounted to a real hi hat stand. Over time if you're doing intricate hi hat stuff its gonna be a hindrance to you. And their racks are darn small. I personally would recommend a Yamaha DTX550k. I think price is $2599, and during sale the price usually goes down to $2399 or $2099. And the rack allows more realistic positioning, and can even comfortably accomodate a few more toms should you find the need to expand your drum kit. On top of that you get 3 triple zone cymbal pads instead of 2 from the Roland TD4KX. And for me, mesh head is wayyyyyyyyy too bouncy.

No offence but HD-1 is not worthed half its price. Like edrummer said, go for the DTX500 (or higher) if you can, but if you HAVE to choose between the two, get the Alesis. Just my opinion though :)

No problem bro. You can come to my place to try out the DTXpress IV special if you want, which is similar to the DTX550 except for the snare pad and extra cymbal pad. Oh yeah and you gotta consider a budget for either amplifier or headhphone, both of which needs to be full-range in order to reproduce the lows of the bass drum and the highs of cymbals. Hope this helps!
