The RF-1 have been recommended for a cheap yet good reverb pedal. But the only thing is finding it... might have been discontinued...

You can check out the Holy Grail Plus. It's an upgraded version of EHX' Holy Grail... Not really bad for the price and NO volume drop. Check my video -->

but depends on your definition of boutique. purists will only see hand made pedals by only the builder as boutique. some people call expensive pedals boutique.

I've been looking for that! Really interesting pedal that one.. Their Reel Echo too I think..
But now that my board is filled up, I don't have any use for them.. But really tempting though!

Unfortunately, YES... there is a noticeable volume drop BUT ONLY if you go past 12 o'clock with the knob of the Holy Grail which they say is normal since that is for the dry/ wet signal

does it take pedals well? say when you use drives with it (do people actually use reverb with distortion??)

I actually use this setup when I want to have a spacious lead effect... think of old 80's sound or Blues solos...
