Buying from US

Hi guys, buying from US may sometimes be cheaper, but the risk is way too high, especially when you're talking about a relatively expensive guitar.

Some people actually advised that even if you are buying from Singapore shops, you need to keep trying different pieces until you find one that you really like. It could be exactly the same model, colour and everything, but every piece is unique, and if you are paying top dollar, you should make sure you are not getting the "not-so-good" ones. Some places may allow you to try, some places may not, but at least here, you are feeling the exact piece that you are buying. If you buy from the states, you have to take your chances.

It might be different if you are buying parts though, the risk is much lower. By this, I mean replacement body, neck etc....

So my advise, go around and enjoy feeling the guitar before buying, that itself is a very enjoyable journey. You wouldn't choose your wife just from pictures right?

eh got some ppl choose looking at pictures lo....kekekekeke

EIEIO, PM me and we'll discuss the artwork thingy.

yeah I can dig Gimour stuff

He uses 57 strat reissues and a 52 tele reissue rite?

if budget wise get a Jap 57 reissue or squier if U REALLY got budget issues.

ME30 (Boss) willa allow U to program the Pink Floyd / Edge delay stuff ...

Amp - I use any old 10 watt cheapo amp - they will suffice for home use

i think gilmour's a cbs era alder body strat, large late 60's headstock
blasting heavy duty setup in big arenas really get the experimental going
i no have zoom & boss, only got an old fab tone, couple of small amps & a pue5

:(

someone posted something about playing at the kallang stadium to mimic the pompei performance LOL that would be cool...but costly to setup the gear and stuff

saw the new vox amp...connected to a laptop?? errr...no thanks lah..id still prefer a black box haha

im trying to change my old school of thot..
and here you go twisting it all over again.. lol
this is another reason for a tempting black box -

nat. stadium, that was my post lah.. is the area abandoned?
not only the cost, sound design wise maybe a challenge as well
another possibility is a huge abandoned warehouse(if still in existence)
it'll be on a smaller scale compared to pompei though but i figure its acoustic level is more manageable?

another gas site for u, still into history begining with us? hehe -

woah cool...

speaking of which, seems to be tons of ppl shopping for guitars these days...happened to pass by peninsula and it was jam packed with people of all ages...lots of young uns picking up the hobby as well. Must be good business to run a music store!

heheh cool...well its a pity that i've only "noticed" him in the past 2years or so. Didnt know much about pink floyd back then when i was into music. Couldnt appreciate the music. I remember going to the US to buy this UMMAGUMMA box set in 1998 and went like.."what kind of crap music is this?!?!"

anyways, i ordered some dvds from amazon...cant wait for them to arrive.

1) David Gilmour live at the Wyatt's Meltdown (2002 - a totally different concert setting compared to Gilmour's pulse concerts. Very comfortable/casual setting with renditions of his classics but this time with a mix of acoustic/electric

2) Live @ Royal Albert Hall - It has a 30min version of Echoes!

Btw..i have one of those Bordelinx setups US address so if anyone wants to share orders to save shipping let me know. The good thing about Borderlinx is that they allow you to hold the shipments for 30-days. Good if you order 2nd hand stuff from amazon etc as orders do take between 7-20 days to arrive.

1kg - 22SGD
3kg - 32SGD
5kg - 42SGD

And no..i'm not working for Borderlinx OR DHL! LOL

Hmmm...........i can recommend a few ( no order of importance ):

1. Fender MIA Strat
2. Cort strat ( sry i dun hv the model, jus saw it a swee lee 2day )
3. Timbre strat ( a good option if u want a good guitar for less )
4. Yamaha Pacifica

All these shld more than satisfy ur tastes, tested numbers 2, 3 and 4 and all have my personal endorsement ( not that its of much worth haha ) yup happy hunting!

As for amps, i suggest u get a multi-efx and a good pair of headphones. Multi-efx like Vox ToneLab LE or SE ( older model ) or a Line 6 PodXT or X3 Live are good choices, also a tad expensive. I have the XTL and i gotta say its an excellent workhorse, both in the studio and for bedroom practice. Want it out loud? Just connect computer speakers and ur ready to rock. Multi-efx is good for ppl like me, who play thru PA most of the time, like in church. There are many options out there so take ur time to audition and choose.

If i were to get an amp, i'd recommend these 2: Vox Pathfinder 15R and Sound Drive SG612R. The Vox has to be the best small practice amp i've ever had the privilege of owning, i can't believe i sold it off jus 3 mths after i got it. I regret being so covetuous for a 30W amp now. The Sound Drive isn't a practice amp, its a 50W with a 12' Celestion speaker but it has one of the most unbelievable overdrive tones i've ever heard for a solid-state amp. I thought it was tube at first! Yup these 2 amps come highly recommended.

Sound Drive and Timbre cam be found at Standard Value, Fender and Cort frm Swee Lee, Yamaha frm well, Yamaha Plaza Sing the best place to go, Vox and Line 6 frm City Music.

Hope u guys found this useful, jus my 2 cents.

eieio - Yeah you can ship anything through and they'll consolidate your purchases and when you're ready to ship, click on some buttons and presto..they'll arrive 4-5 days. Logistics companies do take the volumetric weight OR actual weight..whichever is higher. I got some cds and they put the weight as being 0.23kg - 0.45kg...must be the packaging.

Anyhow, im waiting for 2 more cds and ill ship them all 1 time.

Yes ive heard of the Syd Barrett story.....i think you can find some very old rare footage of syd performing. Worth it if you wanna see the rare footage.

As for playing a gig at the national stadium...yeah right...i think i can make noise but i dont think that counts as playing! :p
