Help needed. Title explains it all. I'm trying to learn lead guitar and solos so it'll be of great help if you can give some advice on what songs I should start out with. Thank you.

sweet child o' mine
hotel california
stairway to heaven

i started with these. all the best! dont get obsessed with speed

early bon jovi songs have really easy solos as well. try those out.
generally alot of early 90's pop stuff has great solos at slow speeds too. gotta get the feel right

before you start soloing, build up your finger strength. it'll be crucial to make your solos go smooth and fast (should the need arise).

your ring finger and pinky should be up to speed with your first two fingers to make everyhing nice and effective too.

one of the more easier leads to take would be
Eric clapton's wonderful tonite,

it will teach you how to control your bends etc etc at a easy slower pace, its good practice.

First song I soloed to ever, and I still do, BB Kings song - Lucille. :D
The moved to Led Zeppelin blues stuff like, "The Lemon Song", "I cant quit you Baby", and Deep Purple too "Lazy", "Smoke on the Water", "Black Knight". You'll Loock for more challenging ones after a while cus your mind will be overflowing with 12 bar blues so you need to get away from that a bit.

well get your vibrato going well too. solos without vibrato is just so lifeless.. accuracy is also important, like what some guy said on another forum 'speed is the by-product of accuracy' which is very true, without accuracy your solos would sound sloppy as hell; what separates good and bad musicians. make sure your bends aren't out of tune, not making mistakes. neverending list.

i too second, eric clapton's wonderful tonite, as a starters solo.

then u could try another really simple repeating solo like, 'whats up' by 4 non-blondes.

are you think of getting tab for soloing? just feel it and improvise man. or you wanna know chords?

All chords in the song are Majors except for an E minor. G, D, C, E minor :D

any not too hard punk rock/metal licks? i spent 1 month trying this blues lick from guitar techniques and i have a phobia of blues now

for beginners, try colorado bulldog solos....by paul gilbert ,mr.big album...thats the easiest solo of all..hahahahhahahaa
