Hey guys.. i hope u can help me out with this.. with a budget of 1.5k max what do you recommend? I want a unit with a good trem system able to go back into tune after whammy whammy abuse.. How's e fender aerodyne with FR and showmaster with FR? open to all other brands too.. Ibanez and all.. so ya.. thx

The Fender Aerodyne with the Gotoh Floyd Rose? DAMN GOOD FR system. You will stay in tune with that.

Good choice. :) Only problem, for me, is the neck joint, veyr limiting.

Ibanez would have to be either the S series, with ZR trem, or RGs with AT LEAST an Edge Pro, if you want the best.

Or grab 2nd hand, there is a guy selling a, GASP!, RG3210 for 1.8k. Now brother, if you know your ibanez history... you know the RG3120 is:

Neck thru
Flamed maple top
Discontinued.

its regarded as one of the top end RGs.

The owner has plonked in Dimarzio too.

Its a STEAL, @ mint cond, for 1.8k.

I think you should consider the feel of the guitar + applications before the FR. You can change the FR but you can't change the neck and the body (w/o making it essentially another guitar.)

Ibanez RGs come into mind. Long list of trem stuff discussions are found on the Guitar Gear Sticky.

If you like a Fender, go for a Fender /w FR. For MIJ 80s Fenders, test the trem system out before you buy... lots of different variations on those and different benefits/problems with each one. Google if you're interested.

I remember my Richie Sambora Strat FR wasn't too bad. Not as smooth as an Ibanez Lo Pro, but stiffness is largely a matter of preferences. You shouldn't go wrong with those.

And yea, of course, check out the Godins at Ranking Sports. A number of them sport FRs.

An Ibanez RG Prestige is worth considering, I never regretted my decision on getting one.

If you can find yourself a Schecter C-1 FR go get it, I bought mine 2nd hand from the US for less than that. =) then again that was on Ebay.

What the?!!?!?

There is an RG3120 for 1k on luther. WHAT THE HELL??!?!?!?!

I WANT IT!!!! Shucks. No no. 7 string first, 7 string first......

Hi but i think that you are slightly mistaken in the history of the 3120. The original 3120 came with stock dimarzio pickups , had a flamed maple top, but was NOT neck through. This was in the year 2001-2003 if im not mistaken.

Then the RG3120 was replaced by the RGT3120, which was neck through, had a flamed maple top, and came with original dimarzios as well.

Next, in 2004-5, the RGT3120 was discontinued and the RG3120 again came back into production, but this time it was bolt on, had a flamed maple top, and came with dimarzio/ibz pickups ( i have one ).

So perhaps you could talk to the owner to find out exactly which era the rg3120 came from to deduce its actual specs.

Oh and the RG3120 is discontinued this year again. Who knows what Ibanez is up to

I would like to add that the information is courtesy of ibanezrules, without which i would be equally clueless as to how the RG3120 has evolved over time. Pity its gone now. I like mine

Wow i didn't know my RG3120 had such a history  Thank god i got the one with Dimarzio's. Great guitar with a great FR bridge if you wanna go for it.

What is the list price of Rg 3120 by the way?

What is the average price/price range for prestige model? Can start saving up for one now... hehe
