I think the boss ds-1 is too mild for even hard rock.....i played a ds-1 on for whom the bell tolls and not shiok at all
anyway can anyone suggest a good pedal for me? I play anything from pop punk to metal and i prefer much more gain then the ds-1 can give....unfortunately my budget is not as high as my tastes for high gain....slightly below $100.
i tink i'll hold onto e ds1, i wanna mod it, damn itchy, but i realli dunno wad to mod, and i can't find full schematics or mod schematics for it, so irritating, the sound is not chunky and heavy enuff for me
hmm i wana get a heavy distortion kinda close to that of metal....cos im using the DS1 and i feel its not really giving enough kinda like the one in my amp... DS1 is a neat pedal easy to use and all.,, real hardy....boss metal zone or line 6? hahaha or is there more. any idea bout the price?
You wont get a metal tone with the Maxon Tubescreamer on its own, cos its an overdrive unit. Although if you have a tube amp you can probably crank it to get a nice classic rock crunch. Have never tried the other two so cant comment though.
the wake me up music overdrive, through the right guitar, amp, setting and guitar player, will become alive. Much much more special than all the generic distortion, overdrive pedals available in the guitar shop around, imho.
i think thats too much already. Well of cos its the best senario...
But.... tru the right amp, right guitar, right setting, right player.
and its still relative to the players ears somemore.
Very hard to say man, But i do think it sounds pretty nice and warm.
But i feel that the bulk of the tone comes from the Marshal JCM800 and the Gibson Les Paul and Fender Strat. So *shrugs*
i tried the DS-1 recently with my strat - its really smooth with the pedal's 'tone' knob at minimal setting, also played thru an amp at a decent volume, all the sustain u'll need.
The Fatal Tube pedal has more features, always sold out at davis, great for direct recording.
Sansamp is pricey n most versatile in sound options
