my band is currently considering doing a proper recording.
so i know usually each studio has their own speciality.
i was thinking if you guys could help me out by giving me some list of studios that suits our genre.

Genre: Experimental. Technocore?. Screamo. Progressive. ah lets just say it that we are more to really experimenting everything.

Influence: Dance Gavin Dance.

Green Door Studios. It is located off Lavender MRT stations, estimated 8 mins walk. Nice people, great equipments and cosy studio. Thumbs up!

thanks. it looks like a pop artist place. lol. you sure? what songs do you play?

Ouh, it's a nice place. Heh. We play mostly hard and prog rock. Check out some of the bands that did their recordings there, see if the quality is up to your liking. Alternatively, you can also talk to Green Door Studios on your band's preferences. Rock on, bro. \\m//

You could record at some studio that has good equipment and rooms. Make all your project in Protools format, and ask someone who are good at mixing to mix for you. Mostly likely you will end up doing recording and mixing from the same studio. Then lastly do mastering if you need to do up an album. Mastering in US or Japan is better, cos if they think your album worth distributing they can help you too. These branded one lah. But you need to travel these place for mastering session.

MrSoap : you can master anywhere in the world even zimbabwe but what you should be impressed with is the final product sound matches with what your band represents to your listeners, not "who what worked with big name when" as that's only reputation-based credibility and usually cost-inefficient. then again all that aside,it would depend on your budget and recording how many songs etc

Lastly, what are you going to do after you make an album. Becos, you may spend thousands to tens of thousand to make your album. Also weeks and months to complete it. This question will strike you very soon.

MrSoap: Failing Cd sales aren't gonna make you your thousands of dollars, until you perform for the hundreds of shows for friends fans who will be paying willingly to see your band live rock on stage.owning a cd these days will be more of a sentimental value like having a "piece of the band" with you.if i was in a band and had thousands of dollars I'd save it for countless jamming hours and writing greater songs refining my musicianship.
