1) Define a good set of effects

2) Try running a skreddy mayo(or insert a decent boutique dirt effect) through one of those mass produced factory line 15w SS amps, and then run it through a decent tube amp like a fender twin, bassman, or drri. You will most likely find the sound from the former to be infinitely less inspiring then the latter.

anyway back on topic, i actually think for the genre of music requiring such heavy grinding distortion, the bogner uberschall actually sounds pretty fricking noice.

No offense taken kank_39. And yes, I would consider myself very fortunate to have tried some of those amps. I'm only just curious whether if you've tried those amps. More people like you means more demand for these amps. And that may mean SG would finally bring it in. Who knows, maybe in the future perhaps.

As for you edder, lol, I wouldn't know which amp suits you best. For me, the Uberschall is not a versatile amp. It does what it's meant to do very well, other than that, there are better choices out there. You have to try out which one is best for you. Personal preference right. I can only give you recommendations on what I have tried personally. 8)

To nickyseow, no offense but umm that guy (original poster) only has a budget of 200-300? hey so why the hell are we talking about soldanos ,bogner etc. Keep to the topic people.

Most 15w amps around that price range are the better quality ones with little to choose between them. Go for modelling amps if u want wide range of effects. Personally id prefer the simple type and relying on my effects board for effects.

For that price range theres vox pathfinder 15, Vox DA5, line 6 spider 3. Al are gd in their own right. Its how u tweak the amps eq with respect to the equipment that u have.

A gd set of effets
1) any number of effects that gets u the tone in your head. (differs with each individual)
2) Dosen't rob too much of your original guitar tone. (preferably none at all)

tubes have the best sound.
Anyone serious in their tone quest should get one. But b4 u do, be aware of the drawbacks.

1) tubes would have to be replaced eventually. Usually not user servicable. Also not reccomended to do so unless u know what u are doin

2) Sound mediocre at low vols. For the best tone crank up the vol.

If u can bring up your budget theres the ibanez valbee at around 300.
I hope sweelee eventually brings in the 5w champ which they featured in the namm show.

The solid state Smarvos are not that nice. Harsh sounding with a lack of depth in tone. The Roland Cube series are a more worthwhile investment. Maybe try to grab a Peavey Bandit II 112 during the Swee Lee half price sale?

Vox amps seem to be a frequent buzzword throughout the posts, so i guess it would be a nice place to start with. Which local shop carries it?

(As for the soldanos, bogners, thanks for the introduction to them but i guess i can only foray when my wallet matches my progress.. haha)

some one on the hcfx forums posted this very interesting thing regarding boogies and bogners.

the former is the schoolhouse amp where everyone can find and inkling of their desired tone and more

the latter is a much more refined series for the connossieur.

just some 2 cents worth of thoughts. 8)
