Hi peeps, recently acquired a LP and was wondering what amp to get to complement it.... Any sugg? Thanks in advance!

Also, any invaluable tips on how to choose a good amp will be welcome.

Cheers!

I've yet to try a LP - Marshall tube amp combi, but I've heard great things about it. Will try that out soon, I hope. =)

Before someone starts flamming u....Go through the Amp reviews here in soft or amp reviews in harmony central. Wat genere do play? wat sound are u lookin for? wat is ur budget?

Since there's no limitations, i recommend this one:

Cool?

Thanks all!

Mobius: Thanks for the kind advice. The stark difference in our post counts says it all. :P

KennethC: LP + Marshall sounds legendary. Haha

kank_39, edder: Thanks.

Oh yah, guess i forgot the budget part. Timely reminder peeps! 200-300.
And, where to shop locally?

Hey Paul,

for a budget of 200-300, I'd recommend a used Vox AD30VT/AD50VT, or a brand new Vox DA5. You can read the DA5's review by a fellow softie in the amp review section. I've only personally heard an LP on the Vox AD30VT, sounded pretty darn good for the price, has some on board effects, you could just place an overdrive pedal before the amp and get a very decent tone.

the Marshall + Gibson combo might appeal in general but IMO it's a little overblown. any combination (of these 2) that sounds good are probably specific models/ makes. i've tried countless Marshalls with Gibson LPs, to me there will always be this undefined tone (mud to the rest of us) that needs to be overcome. others might find this mush very appealing.

I haven't even smell a engl or framus before  but since this dude is open to anything. I thought I'll just recommend him the best IMO. But if EVER any of these come, I'll sell off all my gear except for a cab and a guitar to own them... serious. 8)

Anyway now that he is more specific, I would recommend a used modeling amp. Give Roland Cube series amp a try. That'll start you off somewhere. Alternatively, get a POD and play through you hifi or even computer speakers.

No offense kank_39 but you never tried the amp(s), how can you give a conclusion about it, some more recommend an amp to someone lol? Soundclips can only tell part of the story. Don't you think? Just a thought though.

BTW, I've tried the Cobra and Uberschall before (never tried the SE but did so on a 120). Although they are not "the best" imo, they sure can give some ripping tones. 8)

Unfortunately most people on this forum are just tired of answering extremely open-ended questions. And also, subjective questions. And, it's just really boring when you have so many reviews and previous posts to look at. Part of the problem lies in the state of the forum, the other half on new participants more interested in asking than researching.

amps bet 200 - 300 would be practise amps.
Almost all amps in that price range would give gd clean sounds.
Distortion wise will depend on taste.

Just get any 15w off the market and supplement with a gd set of effects can already.

Chill man. Don't get too serious 'bout my comments. Anyway thor has voiced out what's on the minds of most here so no offense too, 8)

Anyway you're one lucky dude. People like me can only play with my Laney and dream of the cobra and SE.

BTW I love ripping tones.

funk.... if i tell you i'll have to kill you....

jokes aside... if you have noticed, bogner uberschall is my S.O.P. reply for anyone asking for amp recommendations and that comes on like say... any other time of the week?

so may I ask you funk without telling you anything else... what amp is good for me?

its all good bro, its all good.
