Recommendation for a good semi-acoustic guitar.

Hey guys!!

I'm looking for a good semi-acoustic. Like, what should i look out for in buying them? For me, i would look out for brand names but come to think of it, it doesn't really matter what brand names right, as long as it has good sound system and body? I owned an acoustic but its too small for me now, so the size isn't comfortable for me. My fingers would cramped up since the fret distance is too close. I'm also looking for a more flat body just like an electric guitar. Not so fat. I'm a girl u see and so i need that right size to play it comfortable. My budgets around $250 or lower.

And also another question i've been wanting to know, what type of wood is best for a guitar?

I hope you could help me out! Most preferred places would be brass basah, peninsula or even queensway.

Thank you! ^^

Your best bet would be to go to Swee Lee and / or Ranking and try out a few guitars. I know Swee Lee had an entry level Ibanez semi-electric in the $250 - 300. I didn't find it great, but it wasn't bad either. It wasn't a "flat" guitar, but it had a small-ish body that would be comfortable for someone who's not too big!

(their in-store price is about 25 to 30% lower)

Although the flat-bodied guitars may seem a little tempting because of their size, remember that they'll (almost) never give you a well rounded sound. Will sound tinny with little or no bass due to the size of the box. There are small bodied guitars that sound awesome (like Ovation, among others) but they're far beyond the budget you specified.

I have also heard some Custom Acoustic guitars which sound fairly decent. Never tried playing any myself though.. try out a few at City Music, and see what works best. Here are some models in your price range. May wanna call them and check availability before you go down.
