i see distortion overdose in your FX line-up; you still need a booster?

Yeah... 3 distortion boxes? You need a delay and more modulation in your setup bro.

What boost are you looking for? Clean or Gain boost? Budget?

  • Klon Centaur
  • Zoom Power Drive
  • Ibanez TS-9
  • Digitech Bad Monkey
  • Boss Sd-1
  • Boss OD3
  • EHX LPB
  • MXR Micro Amp
  • ... and 200 + variants of OD..... :)

actually. i use ds-1 n hm-100 seperately for different music.

the problem is when i jam with my band mates and i played solo, it don sound outstanding . it just blend in together with the music

if you want to stand out during a solo, get an equalizer to boost ur frequencies. and also, u might want to increase the mids and avoid lowering or scooping them. the midrange is the most audible frequency to the human ear, so boosting them will help u 'cut' through the band.

I agree =)

thx for the information. so a better choice will be a eq than a booster?

actually a good booster pedal can also come in the form of an overdrive pedal too. roll up the volume and lower the gain and u will have a nice clean boost. but be sure to put it BEHIND ur chain of distortions and in front of the modulation pedals.

i would recommend getting both. but if its the cutting through u want an eq will do the trick. the boss ge-7 can boost/cut ur signal by up to 15db, which is more than enough to sound much louder than ur band.

musicians actually use boosters to buff up signals lost through very long chain of effects and cables.

its buffer, not booster.

Both are different theoretically and technically.

Buffer dont boost, it maintain signal integrity between the start of chain and the end of chain of connection(between geetar, pedals, cables before reaching amp)

Booster boost, beyond unity gain

I recommend that booster because of its ability to boost the mids, and highs if you pump it up past 12 (a little trebly, so beware). Thing about it is also the ability to ensure your signal doesn't get lost through the longer wires to the amp (which would really be a waste after all that work to achieve the desired tone, hence no true bypass).

An overdrive to boost is a good idea, but if you like your current tone, maybe a booster/overdrive with more transparency is recommended, in case it alters your tone. An EQ pedal is also a great idea. +-15 decibels should be sufficient.

Set one of the drive pedals to have more volume and use that for the leads. Consider a chorus pedal for those leads as well. That will really stand out :D

haha.. thx guys for the advices...i guess eq will really hlp alot for solo boost... btw , it is a better choice to add both eq and booster together?
