recommend bang for the buck keyboard

any recommendation for bang for the buck types of keyboard? I am looking forward to play in the band, is those special sound effect very important? I cant play anything yet, have yet to touch a keyboard yet. Im thinking to get a keyboard with good grand piano sound and realistic touch, like got hammer action and press harder will sound louder those kind. What is the standard number of keys for a keyboard? Is it the more the better? Hoping to get something that could last as a practise keyboard. My budget is around 500, i could get alittle more, i know its a really tight budget, but anything more my dad will spank my butt. oh yeah, im hoping to get a new one instead of a used one. thanks in advance (=

for you budget, you could only get a Casiotone or Yamaha Portasound.

i recommend you to take up lessons first. see if you have the patience for it.

hi, thanks for the advice, but i think i had determine to learn piano. I been interested to learn since young, im not too sure if i have the patience to do so or not, but well i guess a gamble.

The Keystation is a midi controller, which means it has no sounds and generate no sounds.

Direz, you are looking for a $500+ first hand graded hammer kybd? I think you might have to wait for a looong while

If you are sure your interest in music will stay with you for a long while, it would be worthwhile to get something considerably worthy. Else, you will definitely be up for great disappointment. Please note that touch of weighted kays is a very personal and subjective thing. You must like what you play!

Anyway, ever considered the TR88? For one, the TR is the only budget workstation with aftertouch (when you compare with MO and Xa). BTW, City Music is having sale and if I am not wrong, I saw a yamaha P120 at Music Plaza (Thomson) selling at $!,200+.

On the other hand, 2nd hand stuff isn't so bad...I myself have so far found 2 very good deals and yes, I am particular when it comes to 2nd hand stuff!

:lol: thanks for the advice, guess i should try it out, but a bit paiseh lar, but i think should be possible. what is excalty aftertouch? i tried google, it explains with some some paragraph explain when play this then then play the other chord will sound sharper or something like that when it have aftertouch

actually found out that after getting the software for a midi keyboard, pricing about the same or even more but well there are all kinds of way to get the software free. but i guess i should expand my budget out abit, personally im taking learning keyboard quite seriously, im preparing to go to elssons straight away after getting my first keyboard.

if i extend my keyboard budget to a bigger one, will i have diffculties playing those not so great feeling keyboards?

Hmmm...Direz, maybe you should read this and then decide what you want out of a synth kybd. Trust me, if you are really into synth music, this will not be your first and last purchase.
