I have accidently dropped and smashed my good old Seiko ST-747 tuner and bought an Intelli IMT-204 from Ranking Sports yesterday. After trying out on my bass, it had difficulties detecting the open A and low B strings. Other open strings including the E string was fine and the harmonics tuning method works but I still prefer the open string tuning method.
My previous tuner could tune all my open strings well but not this Intelli. I think I have bought either a faulty tuner or this particular cannot read low notes well. Ranking Sports said that they have a no return policy for tuners, so I am now stuck with this piece of crap.
Can anyone recommend me a good and reliable chromatic tuner that can tune all open strings on 5 string basses, that cost less than $20? Those clip-ons are fine too.
