Real or Fake Gibson?

uh that's not how you spot a fake gibson. You have to see the no. of screws on the trust rod. Whether the side of the bridge has big or small screws, headstock label, inlays.

Gut-feeling says fake.

Never seen a LP studio with a rimburst before, and the pickup dimensions seem a bit off...

On a side-note, the seller's feedback score looks to scarce for me to take seriously.

Best way to be sure...ask the seller to send you a picture of the serial no, and ask gibson to verify. They have been very prompt about these things.

Finish-wise, its a fireburst finish.....a legitimate Gibby studio finish :)

Yeah, I know about the finish(I think it was called tri-burst at one point in time too), but I'm talking about the style of the finish. It's not the usual tear-drop burst Gibson is well-known for. Instead the burst follows the outline or the 'rim' if you will, of the guitar, hence the name 'rim-burst'.

Oh, if that is so, then I think the guitar concerned is pretty legitimate, if you will. The fireburst studios all have that rim burst finish you were referred to.

Very helpful pic that pointed out that the guitar posted was a fake. The on eBay was missing the Les Paul logo on the headstock, and waddya know, the listing's been removed!
