QUESTIONS on eq and track delays!

Hi guys i recently bought a m audio firewire solo.

it is my first ever product that i bought to record at home.

currently have both the ableton live lite 6 and audacity installed into my computer. but i cant seem to find any way to adjust the eq of my guitar inputs into the computer and i have ABSOLUTE NO IDEA HOW TO DO IT!

also there seems to be a delay when i record tracks into the ableton live lite 6, is this normal? If so how do i fix it because when i record 2 or more guitar tracks on the ableton, i cant sync them properly and its driving me nuts!

thanks!

Congrats on the purchase. To EQ your track, go to the Live Devices Panel on the left side of the screen then go to the Audio Effects Category. Drop the EQ Eight effect on your guitar's input track.

The reason for the delay is because the latency of your soundcard is too high. Go to Options > Preferences > Audio in Ableton Live and set the latency lower. Or go to your soundcard's software control panel.

You can push and pull audio in Ableton easily so even if you record something off, it's very easy to fix (although it may not sound very natural)! Look for Warping tutorials for ableton.

thanks alot for the help i have effectively solved the Eq problem already!

but i still cant seem to get the right latency man! like whatever i try there is always this slight delay which really hinders the syncing. is there any other method to overcome this or maybe some standard values for input/output/overall latency that i can try? thanks alot!

when you install the drivers, there should be an M-audio logo thing located at the btm right of your task bar.

double click on it, you'll see the input and output volume control, and some other stuff. there should be a latency thingy there. set it to 0

Latency, means the delay between your input and the output through the sequencer. Since it has to go through the processing of the software EQ, there will be a delay. We only experience the sense of delay when any sound is delayed by more than 30 ms.

Please try to set your sound card driver to ASIO and reduce the buffer size as per the picture below. You can see that my latency is at 21.8 ms which is not that good but it works:

Sorry for the late reply. Anyone know whether this forum has a watch this thread feature? ;)
