Question on Trills.

hi guys! going str8 to the point.

i have problems with my pull off technique, trills to be exact. here's the lowdown: whenever i start trilling, for example 14-17 fret trills on the 1st string,my anchor finger(the one on the 14th fret) would tend to slip out of position gradually in such a way that it looks like im slowly bending the 14th downwards while pulling off the 17th. anybody has any remedies for that?

and one more thing, my trills dont sound when i do 17-21 fret pulloffs, at least not uniformly, any exercises or technique change i must apply? i'm trying to play crazy train btw haha and the part in the solo that does these trills are really kicking my ass.

thanks softies for your input!:D

I've never encounted such problems b4. maybe let me see then i'll see if i can figure a way to solve it, maybe the way u fret your note is wrong or something else

hmm quite hard to figure out what's going on unless someone actually has a look at how you're doing your trills.. i guess the best way to self-remedy it would be to do your hammer ons and pull offs at a slower speed while actively watching your fretting hand, and correct as necessary, then slowly speed up. don't allow any bad technique to become a bad habit!

as for the higher frets, even with good technique, sometimes it may just be due to the action or neck of your guitar.. if it's not properly setup, high notes may not resonate as well as they should.. hope this helps!

it might be the way u are gripping the neck, is ur thumb over the neck such that it's over the 6th string?

one way to remedy the non-uniform sound is to get a compressor in ur effects chain. that would surely smoothen things, but it's a cheat way =D haha u can try to do it slowly first and control your strength with ur hammer ons and pull offs without a compressor first. start slow at a constant speed, then do the same thing at a slightly faster speed for a few bars, and repeat till it gets messy, then go back one step, and repeat the cycle till u hit ur desired speed such that u sound smooth. that's what i do nowadays with the help of a metronome.

All I do is hammer on the notes with quite some power, without pulling off to the side. that seems to do it
