i've got some questions on this recording equipment,

1) does it got some effects on it? and if there is, is it good?

2) is it easy to use? as in can i just plug in this device to my com and my guitar and start to use this device to the fullest?

3) how much does it cost? and where can i get it from?

4) is it worth buying it for?

5) can i use this device though i do not have a mac pc?

6) what is it about the sound card in my computer and in the device or something?

7) and finally are there other important points to consider before getting this equipment?

1) yes. and yes if you don't mind the digitalness.

2) yes. and after installing, yes.

3) www.citymusic.com.sg. call them to ask for price. Or you can get a 2nd hand one for cheap here.

4) i say yes, cos i'm a line 6 fan and i'm biased 8)

5) no. you need a pc or a mac to work it. for pc-less/mac-less solution go for the Pocket POD or Pocket POD Express

6) huh? I no understand zee question.

7) are you recording vocals as well? if not well worth considering the Toneport GX, which has only one 1/4 input, enough for one guitar, or even the Toneport UX1, which has one 1/4 input and one xlr input.

Also, consider getting the new POD Studio line.

giraffe92,

You may wanna post this under the "City Music - Products". The CM pple will be helpful to answer your questions. The best way is to go to City Music to try their demo setup. Then, you'll have the full picture on how it works. Not sure if the older "TonePort" series is still available. The current series is the "POD Studio" series, which gives you the latest "POD Farm" software.

Treat the UX2 like an external USB soundcard, where all inputs go into it, and all outputs come out of it.

Depends on your hardware usage, you may choose from the different models. The software is all the same for them.

I have the POD Studio UX2, with my keyboard, drum machine, mics, bass/guitar, going into its inputs. And outputs to my headphones, and monitor speakers. The "POD Farm" software is easy to use, and to me, the digital sounds are good enough for home recording.

1mband bro,

How different is the POD Studio UX2 compared to the Toneport UX2, apart from the software being used? Cos I have used the Toneport UX2 and upgraded to a KB37. Am considering downgrading back to UX2 and getting the Korg Nano series instead. Less space used ah, heh.

In terms of hardware, there is no difference between the two.

If you currently own the TonePort UX2, or KB37, just keep them, and pay some money to get the POD Farm software. As for how to do that, you'll need to check with City Music.

Seriously, the POD Farm software is really nice and easy to use.:)

I was reading the Line 6 forum. It seems that the POD Studio's POD farm is able to be used as a VST as opposed to Gearbox's standalone programming. In theory then, the POD Farm let's you record clean, unaltered signal which is further tweakable in post, while Gearbox you record an unchangeable guitar signal.

However, for some reason I am able to use Gearbox as a VST now, so I kinda feel hesitant about changing if there's no difference to offer.

Oohh.. all this talk reminds me of this thread, heh:
