hey guys,

i have played guitar for arnd like 1.5 years and is thinking of getting a semi-acoustic guitar with a budget of arnd 500 dollars, i dun really play a particular kind of genre of music, but i like all kinds of emo songs LOL sry for the very very very brief and general requirements but wud be glad if anyone can help to recommend a nice and price-worth semi-acous guitar for me! THX ALOT!

btw my fren recommended me to get maestro, any feedback on that? thx!

what guitar are you using now? also why do you want a semi-acoustic guitar? do you play with an amp often? if so, is that amp good?

i used to have a basic acoustic guitar but i gave it away, now i only have rally-300, which is a more rockish sound electric, i wanna get a semi-acoustic guitar so sometimes when i wanna do a mini-acoustic performance then can use! =) yeah i do hav an amp a small one though, its a Laney 10 or 12 watts onli. a really small one!

I would recommend custom acoustics brought in my city music. Good specs and price. Maestro guitars sound good yes but I've seen a few with built issues. example, the bridge coming off & stuff like that.

I would recommend a small acoustic amp. it would sound way better as compared to plugging through a small practice amp. you could check out the kustom amps at Davis. not sure about the pricing so it's best you have a look.

hey bro. consider crafter. own one semi acoustic solid one one with lr baggs pickups. sounds great. but just alil over $500.

hey i think i wun get a separate acoustic amp for now yet, haha coz of budget issues.

so city music brings in their custom made acoustic?

anyway where can i get crafter guitar ah? which part of sg?

thx!

for $500, you could get full solid custom guitars with b-band preamps. to my knowledge and specifications wise, i think those are the most bang for buck acoutic guitars for $500. the cheapest full solids from other brands are usually $800 plus onwards.

sorry guys!!

i jus realise i got a mix up between semi-acoustic and acoustic electric!, i always thought hollow body semi acoustic guitar! i think what iw as looking for was an acoustic electric, which can be played even without plugging into an amp! sorry!!!!! but thx for all ur guidance still! =)

@madwerewolfboy

were u referring to the custom acoustic FG30E or FG 37X? anyway i saw from the other post that you have had some experience with the custom acoustics model? mind if you tell me more about the details of them? =) thx alot!!!

wasn't referring to any specific models in particular, but do note the 3 main different shapes of the acoustics. if you have no preference, then it's best to just try out all of them to see which you like most.

based on experience, each custom acoustic guitar has it's own characteristics that may differ from another guitar of the same model. if you've zoomed in to a particular model, maybe you would like to request to test a few of them to see which sounds best to you. if you're a serious buyer, the friendly guys at city music will usually take out a few from the store to let you try. one out of the many you try will feel best to you, it might be psychological it might be real, but what ever it is, at least you're buying it feeling good knowing that you've choosen the one that suits you best.

The most expensive might not be the best for you and I speak from personal experience! I bought my $670 takamine from davis though i walked into the shop having a budget of $1000. Tried every single takemine within my budget and i think i sorta pissed mr davis a lil in the process, but that 1 hour was worth it and i settled for what i still believe, a rare gem. =)
