Is there anyone who is using programming based methods to create sounds? Like using pure data, maxmsp or any other programming based language ( java, c++). Or is there anyone who is interested?

iam interested, but still at doing tutorials for max msp/max4live. Been using monome applications which are done in max msp and studying how the monome apps are being written.

Wow thanks for the response. I'm just wondering if there were anyone at all in the local scene. I belong to an audiovisual collective PMP ( http://pmp.fm ) that i co-founded and we are always interested to meet new people who have the same interests. Or if i find any interesting works I would even invite the artist/ musician to present their works in a monthly event "upgrade" that focuses on electronic arts ( sound or visual ).

I've always been interested in programming and generated sounds but the barriers to entry for Max/MSP were pretty high for a student... still pretty high now actually, so never taken the plunge. Did fiddle around with Processing for a few months, but it was mostly things that reacted to audio, like visualizers, and not actually generating or synthesising sounds.

If you have any such events I'd be very interested to check it out!

@patheinraindropmoe in simple terms those apps are a set of functions that is triggered by the hardware interface using midi or osc. The more important thing is how you generate these sounds
. Once you cab do that u can interface it to monome or launchpad.

@carboxymoron where do u study? Processing is not the best language for generative sounds. If you are interested check out "chuck".but max and pd is way easier. We have some events coming up if ur interested join our grp or send me a mail. Can find it in my web and I'll keep u updated

Haha, no longer studying. I've followed on fb and tumblr and will look out for any of your events/gigs. Perhaps the Fringe Festival one. Cheers!

thanks

for adding. Actually we just had a performance today for a really cool place's opening. it's a short one though. will update you soon. cheers
