Personally, I will take these over any Epis anyday if the specs were the same as that stated. Reason? It has a real maple top despite the veneer. Below is a simple cross section on the whole thing.

* denotes flame veneer
@ denotes maple top below the veneer
X denote mahogany body

oh man...its sad to hear tt davis wun bring those here at the initial shipment...hope we will get to see these beauties soon man...the singlecut looks really sweet...

Hmmm... out of curiousity, how accurate are those bridges when it comes to intonation?

You can cannot move the individual saddles rights? Only the shift the entire bridge by way of 2 screws on either side.

regarding the bridge, they are accurate for only normal sets of strings of gauge 009 to 010 for the 1E, anything above/below you will have intonation problems =X tried out at davis the other day with a tuner, intonation on 12th fret is spot on..

if ur bent on using gauges 011 or so, i think can always purchase the adjustable stop tail bridge as an option but tt's too $$

subversion shud be in on this, he has a mccarty with the stop tail so it's definitely more experience than the fleeting one i had at davis..

now.. is the se singlecut a flat top or curved one? or maybe just a slight arched top with a bit more contouring at the sides? =D

Hey almond, you only checked intonation for the 1st e string? Or did you check it on a whole? Also, what tuner did you use?

I'm very curious abt this bridge system. It definately looks more comfortable than the normal TOM styled bridges but it looks a bit under-engineered. I feel that intonation fine tuning is a must have for any bridge. I can't imagine if you were using top heavy strings (9-52/10-60) and you had to compromise your intonation of those thicker strings.

it's not that they won't bring it in, but these didn't make the shipment. if it's a consolation to anyone, the SE Std (pic below) will be in.

regarding the comfortability issue, maybe it's me but i found the stop tail bridge a tad massive/high, much preferred the lower prs trem..

checked intonation for all strings using this tuner davis provided me which clipped onto the headstock for measurements.. backlit display tooo oh so cool 8)

yea if using top heavy strings the intonation is definitely compromised, as well as the grooves for the heaveier strings i guess

An intellituner?

Hmmm... i think intonation is best checked with a more accurate tuner... like the boss tu12 with a needle (no leds) or a strobe tuner.

In anycase, yamaha has the same (at least it looks the same) bridge on some of their guitars. I found it quite interesting but was doubtful abt the intonation with different guages.

Unless its US pups, most of the time I'll change it. But the stock pups defintely sound better than those on Epis. Having own both, that's my conclusion.

Do you people usually happy with stock pickups on PRS or they change them with some others?
