Hi Everyone,

Just toying with this idea for a Project Guitar of the Month thread of some kind. It is not a contest but a showcase to highlight and discuss the tinkerings and thoughts behind any project guitar.

Project can be anything from Makeover Job, Frankenstrat, Restoration, DIYs, unplanned pregnancy (ok.. this I meant by DIYs that came about by chance when you decide to upgrade every part from your guitar and realised that you have enough to piece together another) etc...

Hopefully, this can spark some creativity, inspiration and appreciation to the craftsmanship and thoughts behind guitar construction.

Thoughts anyone?

I'm not sure how the nomination and selection process is to be done for now. Ideas most welcomed!

Cheers!

wat a jolly good idea observer....it will only encouraged ppl to actually do and create, rather then jus accept wat it is..

maybe we cld separate it to different categories
1)new build fr scratch
2)makeover/cosmetic upgrades based on existing guitar

we cld select the winner based on a vote, but sometimes votes is nt enitrely a true representation...maybe the moderators cld internally within themself..select a winner...

Ok La... Set.. Cruxgod's guitar as project guitar 1st nomination for January 2010. Anyone wants to know how he got there...Shoot him questions!

The more the merrier. Ho! Ho! Ho!.

By the way, any name to this guitar? and... the pic a little to big la, possible to shrink a bit?

FIRST thing the moderators can do is to 'sticky' this thread to the so it will never get lost...

(pic of the routed cavity and the brass block)

name of project: polka monster (the idea for this project came from a kramer nightswan tat had a polka dot finish)
in all, this project took around 9 mths to complete to its current form

This is starting to be interesting but more thoughts needed.

1) If competition style (by votes) perhaps nomination process and voting process must be made possible one way or another.

Maybe Nomination Criteria,
A nomination can be taken from any functioning* project guitar posted in www.soft.com.sg within the contested month up to the 20th or earlier. *Functioning means guitar is working la! 'Work in progress project guitar' do not qualify for project guitar category (maybe another category). If want to bluff also can... but must be realistic la, got strings, got pickups.

A nomination can be made by an member (including self nomination) and seconded by another member before it is to be put up for voting for 'Project Guitar of the Month'.

No limits to the number of nomination however, a project guitar may be nominated for a maximum of 3 times and will need to undergo substantial rework before it can be renominated.

As suggested by cruxgod, it may be useful to have two or three categories, 1) FrankenParts 2) MakeOvers 3) Restoration

Most importantly, project guitars must be 'Projected' (a.k.a. made, assembled, modified, crafted) locally.

Nominations to be made from the 1st to 20th of the month by posting in the appropriate Project Guitar of the Month Thread with a Picture, core specs/key features and key description of the process.
Voting Criteria
All SOFT members are eligible to vote.

Members who are project guitar enthusiast will have 2 votes each (need to show link of a previous project or project in progress).

Nominees may also vote.

Voting will be made from 21st to Noon of last day of the month. Nominated project guitar with the highest number of valid votes will be announced the Project Guitar of the Month.

In case of a tie, FGL will be given tie breaker vote as his third vote. hehehe. (No kelong ah! Wait CPIB blanja kopi hehhee)

Prize?... this one must find sponsor lah.
How? Ok?
