Project Guitar Appreciation

Very interesting... I am sure there are more project guitar species out there....

In anycase, I was toying with this classification for project guitars... The reason being, not all projects are scrapyard projects. I have personally built guitars from exotic unfinished parts.

Any comments on this?

Upgraded: Factory stock guitars, upgraded with selected parts.
Revived: Guitars that have been rested due to costly servicing costs.
Salvaged: Used guitar parts salvaged, and put together into a working guitar.
Custom Assembled: Guitar assembled from finished or unfinished parts by guitar parts manufacturers.
Exotic Custom: Guitars assembled from finished or unfinished exotic parts

Anyway, here is a revived squier Strat that I completed six months back. Installed LP type pickups with non traditional wiring for a unique sound and multiple tone variation.

Here are two clips made just before the guitar was sold.

Hi RyanZ, I was told that the RJ and Pylox lacquers are good. I personally use the brush on sometimes. I think, most hardwarestores have them I get mine at the a paint shop along Upper East Coast road opposite the old POSBank. Lots of stuff there. Sungei Road area is another good place to hunt.

Hmmm. Project guitar thread. Interesting. Would like to share with u all my revived Ibanez RG 270 DX. Change the bridge to Gotoh and almost all the hard ware to Gotoh (I had to change the color from Black to Cosmo Black lol). It now plays sweet, altho some of the dings gotten from installing the new bridge kinda irks me a bit, but hey, at least now it looks more rugged.... lol.

i am also looking for fender decals.. any lobangs?

thanks chanmin :) its daphne blue. this is the only reliable decal seller i found so far but its pricey:

http://www.decaljoe.com/Stratocaster_Joe.htm

he sells in sets of 2 decals. interested?? I'm considering the 60s decal. alternatively...a friend from nafa told me you can print stickers at sunshine plaza at about $5 per A4. just need to provide them with the image. you can squeeze in as many images or stickers as you want on that A4 size piece.

id much rather save the cost of time, travelling and parking.
im prob gonna get from that site... you getting also?

*to those who have tried it...do give some feedback on it..:D

*Thanks to Chanmin for the amazing photo-taking skills..

wow, how did you get the burnt/dirty look on the exposed parts of the body and neck?

ChanMin:

I've gotten decals from Decal Joe before. Delivery only took 4 days, believe it or not. Came in immaculate condition with clear instructions on how to apply. Pretty easy to DIY the decal on. Just need warm water, a pair of tweezers and a steady hand.

for DJthug's strat
it was a mixture of pencil lead and a dark brown stain.
oh and a word of caution... please dont use ciggies to stain anything, trust me. it stinks.

and ive just ordered some decals from that decaljoe. cant wait pimp up my strats!
