Production Cost

The average rate of a clown ? or the average of a good producer ? hehe

There are averages for a " C " list producer , as much as there are averages for an " A " list producer.

depends what ' list ' you're on .

It's like audio interfaces , you have ur mackie/maudio/behringer/echo price bracket , then u have ur prisms/lavree/apogee range

Haaa...It's true!! then shall have the "B" class too right?! :D

Then, How much differences in between A-B/C class price?

Say, Music Arrangement--
What's the minimum of A Class and How Maximum is the B Class rate?

What i wish is to know about the rate of possibility so that i c'ld have the idea for doing some budgeting :D

It's really appreciate for your patience to answer and useful info...thanks a lot!! ;)

then i think that's not the way about doing things ,

you should find the people you actually want to work with, or u actually like their work . and find out how much they charge , then plan your budget around that , I have hardly heard of SERIOUS labels or artists basing who they wanna work with solely on budget , if so called A list producer is too ex , they simply just do less songs with him or just do the main singles with him and do the rest with b list producer.

Keep in mind that some A list producers don't charge A list prices due to XXXX reasons , and alot of B list producers are on C list rates .

also depends on what genre and what kind of artist / project /quality u have in mind.

I have different rates for different projects and nowadays i find i'm actually quoting more and more based on a project basis , some of my bands and artists want international sounding work or are from other countries who fly me out , so i charge high rates for top work , some of them just want demos quickly and cheaply done , so i let my junior engineers record them while i supervise and mix . some music compositions i get paid 1k for a 3 min song , at the same time i get paid 3k for 30sec ad jingle if it's used for 1 country , and more if it's licensed for worldwide.

It pretty sum up a lot of thing since there is a boss down here. The last cat is "demo". It can cost $200-$1000 per song depending the complexity that song. Many composer could not do any arrangement by themselves, so they need to spend on demo in order to sell their product. I'm do mainly on this cat., I also did some jingle that fall into this cat. Non-"commerical" song like wedding song, gift song,.... fall into this cat too.

mactreouser : redundant suggestions aside since I've already mentioned everything can vary from producer / the band's performance/song details etc, the only average you're gonna get is $300 - $10000 per song.

are you a producer trying to gauge your rate or are you a musician trying to gauge your budget?
