problem with my tuners or the strings?

Besides... everyone should know how to setup their own axe. ;)

I don't agree with that statement at all.

Even its just change strings, there are always some guitarist who just cannot get it right. Just like changing to a car spare wheel when you gotta flat. Many don't know how to do it.
But about changing strings is more agreed that it's a essential skill.

To understand the science behind how to setup a guitar, there is actually not only a lot to know, but also to know how to apply it. So I more or less equate a guitar setup like doing a 10K(km) car service, (eg. change oil, plugs, clean air filter, drain coolant, bleed brake & steering fluid, axle and gear box oil).

Hobbylist talk about bridge, saddle, truss rod, nut, tuner. Its common that many guitarist will confuse which is which or just simply don't know. A lot cannot be explain in layman's term and expect the next tom & harry to understand fully.

The risk of irreversible damage is high for a layman. Even if you know left from right, it always takes an experienced tech to nail down the best possible setting in the shortest possible time, with the lowest possible risk of damage.

If you are technically good with your hands, by all means, explore the workings of your guitar. Different people have different attributes, but there is a natural order of things. Sometimes ours is not to question why, just find the best road to take.

now, intonation not to exact tune but close. (open string and 12th fret) only thing is while tuning normal w/o tuner, it tend to b slightly higher in tone with the B and high E ... any expert can help ??

Huh I don't understand the question. You mean the tuner tells you it's in tune but your ears tells you it's not?

CORRECT !!! the tuner says it's in tune ... but when i do the 'traditional' tuning on the 5th fret ... the G B E strings will b slightly lower ... need to retune, else if i play open chord, it sounds kinda weird ... or izzit just me ?

If you open string tuning is correct, but the fretting tuning is not, then either your intonation is out, or you have a bigger problem with the neck.

I find it interesting that you say the open string and 12 fret tuning is correct, but the 5th fret is not. If this is really true, you really need some expert help with the neck.

Check your intonation again first, make sure it's correct. Or bring it to a pro to have it set up.

my current guitar, the 6th, 5th, buzz on almost any fret except on lower fret. 4th string buzz on the 1st few fret. i read up a guide one adjusting tension rob, but i nvr touch my guitar tension rod before ( so no chance tat i break the tension rod before ) so following the guide i try to adjust, but my tension rod, the part where u turn is so loose, tat u even use yr fingertips to turn it, and i been turning like 20 times like no difference, im suppose to like turn a 3/10 of a round, but i tried like no difference so i keep try abit and bit, seems tat there is no changes at all. wonder did my truss rod break or something.

edited: action i already set up too the highest, intonation adjusted correctly, neck is straight. wonder wat wrong with it. hmm
