Up for sale is a 1991 Gibson SG '62 Reissue with a Gibson hard shell case with shroud. This is a rare guitar for two reasons:love it is Candy Apple Red in color (which Gibson did not use much) and it has a side mount output jack like a Les Paul (it is the same set up you'll find on a lot of early 80's model SG Standards!). Fret board extends all the way to the neck pickup rather than having the space between fret board and neck pickup. This SG is in good shape, it has a few small dings and scratches, but nothing major. The guitar is original except straplocks have been added and sperzel tuners (original tuners will be included). This is a great collectible or player guitar.

The rare original pickups:
Gibson’s The Original HB-R and HB-L, sometimes known as “PCB Pickups” were designed by German engineer Bill Lawrence when he re-joined Gibson in the late eighties.love

His design ideas were:

* The PCB makes it quicker to exchange pickups by just removing the wires from the rear of the pickuplove

* 4 terminals plus ground for use in coil tap connection

* Fully potted to eliminate microphonics

* When set at the same distance from the strings (about 3/32"), both pickups will have the same volume as the HB-L has a higher output.

The HB-R & HB-L pickups are thought by many to combine the low-end aggressiveness of a Bill Lawrence 500-L with the precision of a Gibson Classic ‘57 Humbucker. Also referred to as a PAF reissue these pickups replaced the Tim Shaw pickups of 1980-87. From 1988-89 these were fitted in most Les Pauls and SGs and some of the early 1990’s models.
