Which do you think is better? both retail for the same price now. And Also in you opinion is is cheaper to order online[Musician'sfriend.com] via Vpost then in the stores in singapore Would love some feed back thanks
firebox is more for a normal band... the focusrite is more for movies..
reason being... saffire has 8 line outputs.. its for doing movies with 7.1 surround sound..
it has 2 line inputs and 2 mic inputs... its like... recording a movie like titanic.. when u have background music(line inputs) and 2 person talking (mic inputs)..
the only focusrite product i like is their liquid mix and their BIG ASS PREAMP which is award winning..
presonus is more for a normal band recording cuz i see most studio uses presonus for their interface..
firebox has only 2 inputs but those are made to receive instruments level.. so u can plug in guitars bass mics whatever u have.. straight in... as for outputs.. it has 6 outputs (2 mains + 4 line outputs).. which is more than enough for recording a band..
all these are my own opinion.. so whether u like it or not.. its up to u.. hahaha...
if u only using like 1 mic and nothing else, which means u only need 1 input... u might wanna get a USB mic.. this one i'm not so pro..but i will shops do sell it.. as for quality..i'm not sure either... but its a lot cheaper than NT1A>interface>computer..
u might wanna try line6 toneport UX2.. which is very much cheaper than firebox and saffire... and it runs on USB.. only UX2 has phantom power.. unlike his younger brothers..
i'm not sure how movies are really recorded..but what i'm sure is that.. if u wanna record a video or piece of music with 7.1 surround sound..u will need 8 outputs..
correct me if i'm wrong..never did movies before..
the saffire got phantom power ah.. the website never write leh.. strange.. think they forgot to write.. or i didn't see..
focusrite stuff is sold by team satu kosong lapan a.k.a Team 108 , give them a call to get a price quote, btw there is 2 version of the saffire if i'm not wrong, one normal and another the costlier one (it has on-board DSPs)
remmeber to use ONLY condenser mics with the firebox! actually i think you'll be fine with ribbons or anything that doesn;t need much juice from the preamp.
dynamic mics are a definite no-go, unless you already have another mic preamp
What if i wanted to record a big roaring 4x12 cab hooked to a tube amp at 11?
FYI not all ribbon mics are equally sensitive (even if given a ballpark to range in)...there are some which approach condenser sensitivity territory and many which don't.
