Hi,

Am wondering if anyone has any experience with either/or both Practica Musica and/or Auralia/Musition.

Would appreciate your feedback to be able to decide which to get

Auralia/Musition are better, IMO.
They work better and have more areas for you to learn the musical aspects. Practica Musica is good, but compared to the former, a lot more "boring"!

Let me know if you are intending to get either. Yes, I do sell these!

I was hoping very hard nobody will actually mention Ars Nova. Looks like somebody already did!!!! The reason is because of their counterpoint software - makes me angry they actually came up with a software that simplifies things so much. Taking away the human aspect and computerising everything...

Come to think of it, I shouldn't be posting this...

Ha,ha
U think Ars Nova does good counterpoint? Wasn't too impressed with it, when I last saw it, but you know, newer versions can be different.
But I was pretty impressed with Auralia's ability to set up a 3 note chord and get the user to SING one of the notes while it detects the pitch! I tried it on questions that tested you to sing the MIDDLE note. Boy, was it accurate! 8O

I've never tried Ars Nova's counterpoint. What I meant is that I cannot stand a software attempting to do it and hence getting people to be lazy about applying counterpoint. The existence of such a software irks me.

By the way. since you have tried it, in what way do you think it wasn't too impressive? Other forums focusing on orchestration seem to think it was quite impressive. For me, any software that does something like that is simply offensive.

Interesting that you compare Counterpoint with Auralia. Don't both of them do very different things? Perhaps Practica Musica is more comparable. Actually, I've never come across any other software like Counterpoint. It does seem to do its job, at least from what they said. I can't imagine people not needing to use their brains anymore during orchestration!

lets all wield torches and pitchforks and form an angry mob against these software companies!
