All of us work in a company that requires marketing - be it for a service or a product. If you were in marketing or sales, would you 'market'/hype up your product or service to a level that you know cannot be achieved???
And if you were not in marketing, what would you think of those that do the marketing and selling and do so by promising attributes/satisfaction that cannot be achieved?
If we don't do this kind of OTT BS selling of products and services for companies that we work for then why the heck do we allow such things to happen with local music?????????????? If I bought a product and it turned out to be less than what was promised, I would despise the product and probably despise what it is related to.

We donch need it. We should deplore it. We should stop this OTT BS.

That much or perhaps more is appropriate but to OTT sell, until even the cows are ashamed, is too much and it should be taken as a RUDE attempt at ass-kissing or OTT selling - both should be shot down and laid to rest.
Leave the BS to snake oil pushers and their like.
Local talent and local music deserve better!!!
