5 local bands compete to win Power Jam 2008, an annual band competition organised by Power 98.

I know lah bro snuff... . I've been following this thread and as I have posted much earlier, I think it's a great event with good bands. Even bro fgl's band and Helven were good bands that I liked but didn't make it to the finals. And my vote goes to bro Wyldeboon's band.

What I am dissing is the calling that this is SGs "greatest night in music" crap, BS, pathetic, lie. We don't need this sort of over the top (OTT) BS to sell local talents and their music.

The event and the bands are cool.

The OTT selling is pathetic BS that we can and should do without.

Ah, no worries bro snuff... . RoRK feel strongly about some things and being opinionated, sometimes I jump in more than I should. But yeah! I do feel strongly about OTT selling of local talent and music because all it does is to do a disservice for EVERYONE - the bands, their music, the business folks related to what we do and to ALL listeners.

VSOP?!?!?! That's a lau chiauw drink bro. When you gotch JD and/or Mariachi on standby, you call bro RoRK, ok? :mrgreen:

relax ppl .. like in everything in life... it's all in the marketing ....

point of caution though: I have seen a gradual decline in attendance and popularity in the finals at zouk from the 2005 during my stints with Syne of Tyme and last year with Retro Groove.

I think more hype is needed to "pizaz this event up". I was impressed with the items planned, bands peforming, crowds etc in 2005 but last year things seemed muted at the finals ... Hope it picks up this year.

Break a leg to all finalists and hope it's a rockin nite ..I'll be gigging in a boring (but profitable :mrgreen jazz gig someone in sunny Singapore so i wont be able to make it down .
