Post your swee lee sales hoot!

Yeah, I got a shock too when I checked out the price of Digitech Hardwire DL8.
It was after the sale.
The list price was $515 w/gst!!!. They claimed after 'discount' ..minus 20%..it'll be abt $413.
Cut the crap.
It's NOT a discount...it's just a psychological game. They say 'discount' just to make you feel happy that you're getting a so called 'price slash'.
Tonefactor sells @$179USD (inc shipment)...currency rate now $1USD-$1.44Sing. U do the maths.

Well, that is what I paid for the DL8 months ago when it first came in and there was no sale. So at least they didn't hike up the prices for that one.

BTW, if you are considering that pedal, then I'd suggest you bite. Because all you get online these days for the Hardwire pedals are the MIC ones. the batch that Swee Lee still has are the MIA ones. while stocks last!!!

Whitestrat,

I wasn't over-reacting, facts are facts. As long as the local muso community here, young and old, knows the full picture, it will benefit us all.

I do agree some of you got good deals for your Gibsons. Good for you all.

Peace. :)

hahah true.but anyway most of the gears have already been grabbed by the early birds during the sale.the 2nd day was like whats left over then you can have kind of thing

I know you mean well.

But there are "facts", and there are "truths". Understanding the facts are not enough. One must look at the context to which the facts should be applied to. In this case, if painted in a bad light, people will misunderstand the $10 entry fee and the 50% discount. If painted in the correct perspective, it will make more sense.

There is also another reason for why the prices could have been marked up for the sale: Foreign Currency and Credit Terms. It depends on when SL needs to pay their suppliers. IF they are given a 120 daycredit term, then they will end up paying whatever the exchange rate will be on that date. Recently the Yen and Dollar have become a bit volatile, and the yen has shot up quite a bit. If they needed to recover their margins, I can understand the price increase.

I personally didn't like the way it was applied, but I understood it. Swee Lee was not out to cheat per-se, but I believe they could have done it in a more amicable manner like I suggested earlier for the entry fee.

This was a cash method they used, which is far easier to handle that what I had to do previously in my ex-company's event, which was a $50 entry fee just to sign up chargable through a credit card. Do you know how troublesome it is to reverse a credit card transaction?

Hope they apply this suggestion for the next sale.

I was looking for a Gibson LP Studio sold locally for some time already. Just after the sale I came across this thread and there it is at the first post, TS flaunting his Studio and what's more, with the exact finish I wanted.

It's not exactly a 50% discount but altogether, at least for the Studio, it's cheaper getting it from the recent sale than bringing it in, which is like 3k to 4k if I'm not wrong.
