hihi

just like to ask bout portable amps ( those ultra mini battery powered kinds)

davis selling some of em rite ? on average how much is one and anyone can recommend a model >? cos like for us we need to travel around to each others house to jam but like inconevenient cos we no private transport ( read : poor kids no $ and underaged to buy motorcyle/ car and no lisence anyway)

is there a portable mini bass amp ?

Don't bother if you want to get it to jam. Sounds terrible and only meant for your own private practice with headphones.

Stilll better to lug your 15W or 20W bass amp to jam, or you'll regret ever coming together with those tiny portable amps.

Public transport ain't that back, Just avoid peak hours.

If you're looking for a lil amp for parties, chalet ... you could try the Roland Microcube or the Fender Amp Can.

Being the dealers for Roland and Fender, Swee Lee should be able to help you.

I saw Amp-Cans in Swee Lee the other day. A couple of years ago I heard a street musician playing through one - it was fairly loud and I wouldn't describe the tone as 'dreadful'.. it was reasonably sweet. OK for practice - forget it if drummers present.

those mini amps won't do you good in a jamming situation. i bought one strictly for practice. my prized possession is this Fender Mini Twin which has a killer clean tone! doesn't sound bad with a Tube Screamer plugged in either... 8)

I think this amp is quite good.
It's small, and has a SansAmp GT-2 circuitry in there.
I am thinking of getting one as well.
Can be found at Sinamex.

i decided against a tube amp. Cuz i live in HDB. Not much point to it. Can't crank it. TECH21 stuff are worth the price, IMO. But, at 400+, its rather costly for a 10 watt amp if you compare with what's available on the market...

I intent to use it for practise at night and maybe some direct recordings onto computer.

yea this amp is really versatile and sounds great.
i bought a 5150 and i am saving up for a attenuator so i can crank it up at home... *drool*
High Gain tube amps should come with in built attenuators eh?

or peavey should start building a 20watt 5150ii head.

I have looked quite carefully at it. The craftsmanship is superb and Tech21 stuff is very reliable. Sound wise I will comment soon as I test it out.
